Ya if KM have problem getting these TC Civics, then PI Huat already.

Nonethesless, just cross fingers.  If it comes, I will go test drive...hehe

die-hards should go for Type R, :D

Civic launched good for consumers, Altis and Mz3 have to down price further to protect their territory

Type R is for real die hards which there are quite a few but the majority practical ones want to ferry their family around so Type R with their hard suspension won't do so the 1.5l TC would be a good compromise.

1.0l TC would be able to give Altis and Mz3 a good fight if priced near those cars and even abit more. I drive a 1.6l FD and I find the response and pickup better than other comparable Jap 1.6l cars and most Honda owners love the Civic largely due to this amongst other strengths as well.

I guess Kah more interested in their bottom line rather than rising to be no. 1 seller in S'pore so maybe we all have to wait long long for them to price their cars sensibly!

suspect KM would have difficulty getting inventory for the new civics

probably will go for margin to milk the fan boys rather than market share

:D

It will be interesting to watch how KM going to price the civic. If they price it close to say Mz6 2.5, I would say it will make Mz6 looks even more attractive. Haha..

Given that HD always hang up to sell, high chance they will price it at/close to Jap 2.5L NA.

actually in 140+k range, no much value for money sedan option,

it even cannot reach conti brands (Audi, B&M, Volvo) low end and entrance level, only can buy some US middle level brands such as Ford focus, Chevrolet Cruz etc, otherwise SUV a lot from Jap/Kor

I don't quite agree. At 140ish, there are already many options, eg. higher end Jap sedans like camry 2.5, Mz 6 2.5, Legacy. Add a few more K can even reach WRX, which is better performance than civic. (assuming civic is really priced at 140ish).

In every gen of civic, ppl always complain it is overpriced. During FD model, ppl keep complaining overpriced, Altis was selling at 60+ but FD was 70+ during 2007/8. The same is going to happen to this new model. Confirm

Under current COE levels, if the new Civic goes above $130 to $135k, doubt will move.

The days of FD type of volumes are over.

haha  ... true lor ... and also cos Honda OMV tends to be higher so after all the taxes etc ... end up ex lor ...

but those days the FDs were just flying off the shelves and the 1.8L variant was the best seller ... of course COE was also quite a bit cheaper back then ...

main thing is, Civic can be priced above say Altis but the gap cannot be to big. Think anything more than $20k is a deal breaker, to me.

1 KH salesman told me if Honda cars sell like other Jap car brands' prices, it will out sell all of them here. So, there will a premium to pay for Honda cars in Spore.

They always say you need to pay a premium for Honda cars, but i always wonder what premium are they talking about? Lol.

I though before they opened Thai factory, Honda indeed premium than other Japanese rivals, but once they shifted their business to Thailand, they are not different with others

U want to know what premium? It is the premium of a better and refined engine over its peer (say Altis or Mazda). But whether is it worth the extra 10-20K, is up to individual to decide.

Agreed and that's why I posted earlier that this model could be the model to make or break them.

If Kah is serious about regaining the no. 1 spot which they held years back, they have to bring both models in to cater for the borderline buyers (1litre) and the die-hards (1.5litre).

Then Altis and Mz3 can stand aside but priced wrongly and it will be a nail into their coffin!!

Ody OMV is only $24k. But KM price it at $150+k.

If they price it at $130k....

All other makes can close shop.

KM is doing good for the industry. :D

I will wait....

After all, bottom is the most important right?

why sell more, work more but profit remain?
