inlinesix Hypersonic June 16, 2019 Share June 16, 2019 Yes. That is there purely for marketing reasons. Technically, no VTEC. I thought there is VTEC on exhaust valve. ↡ Advertisement
Davidklt Supercharged June 16, 2019 Share June 16, 2019 I thought there is VTEC on exhaust valve.“Short answer: No, it is not VTEC. Long answer: The 1.5L Turbo engine features dual VTC on both the Intake and Exaust camshaft. This affects Valve timing only. In essence it does what VTEC does in that it is variable valve timing, minus the lift. In laymans terms, think of lift as how far the valves open. Without VTEC they open only to a certain set height on a smaller lobe, with VTEC engaged the valve is opened by a larger lobe, resulting in a valve that is opened wider for longer. VTC does change how long the valve stays open affecting valve timing and overlap, with the focus done on scavenging, but it does not affect lift at all. The valves always open to a certain set height due to only one size lobe being present. This helps by increasing turbo response at lower rpms and also lowering combustion chamber temperatures. So no, even though Honda refers to the engines as "VTEC turbos" they are not because, well, they are not VTEC, they simply use VTC technology based on VTEC technology. Accurately they are simply VTC turbos. In a real life scenario? You will probably recieve more benefit from the continuous VTC over the situational VTEC due to increased scavenging, lower combustion chamber temperatures, and increased turbo response”
teomingern 6th Gear June 17, 2019 Share June 17, 2019 Nope. They don't. I always thought they never bring in the hatch version for some reason... and for some reason, the hatch version seems to be quite Europe specific... maybe even UK specific... And I assume because of emissions? I suppose having the LIFT bit means more oxygen entering and the burn becomes much leaner and hence the temperatures higher leading to more NOx? Would that be correct?

Would that be correct?NA engine you need higher lift to draw more air due to there only atmospheric pressure available. for turbo nowadays use electronics wastegate to control the boost pressure. with higher boost can help push more air at fix valve lift height. if need both boost and valve lift height is variable adjusted, the control will be complicated and more expensive. no one gonna pay for it being BnB categories. LQY 1st Gear June 17, 2019 Share June 17, 2019 For those driving the 1.5T PI version, can share which dealer you bought from and how was your experience with them? I see from sgcarmart only a handful of PIs carry the 1.5T. Also, the PI version is almost $10k more than KM. Besides 10bhp more, made in uk and hatchback, it does not seem to have any major difference between PI and KM? Yes, that's part of the reason why i still go to KM and eliminate the bad experiences with PI with many posts in forums as custumers

XinWeiNg Neutral Newbie June 19, 2019 Share June 19, 2019 just a follow up sharing. -Fuel efficiency differs due to the rims size, comparing to 17" rims 18" is running at mostly 12km / litre (mixture of highway and city drive) -dont bother with econ mode (weaker aircon and lesser power) which improve like 12km/l to 13ish km/l - personal preference. Hi gents, I have recently collect my WOP civic hatch CVT 1.5T from TWA before CNY. think it's a comparable option after considering the high COE price for cat B currently. (they have 8 units ex-stock, ready to deliver within a month at the dealer) here's my personal take after running in. plus on the HB -remote engine start stop -default aero kit - black skirting, (larger fake air vents) -center twin exhuast -Honda sensing -18" factory stock wheels (i think civic 1.5t 2019 should be all 18" pending KM specifcation. -larger opening at the boot(5DR), (easier to fit industrial stuff or carry goods, i'm in O&G supplies) -shorter back (personally like the overall outlook vs sedan) -higher passenger head room (sorry i'm being obvious) Down side -is that it doesnt comes in PMM color. (only WOP, silver, black, blue, red is available in JDM spec FK7) -hard to source for accessories and performance upgrade (comparing to sedan, limited pool of ownership, lack of interest for small market share) -small group (30members, think less than 150 units in singapore roads currently, excluding FK8/ Type R) -low driving postion (not uncomfortable, but abit hard to get out of the car) (guess this should be the same as sedan) -FC on econ mode is about 12-13Km/L (i imagine it's gonna get worse once i make more spirited drive)

Stormfall Neutral Newbie June 21, 2019 Share June 21, 2019 Hi, Just got my Honda Civic 1.5L from KM. Starting to see what accessories I need.. managed to get a car holder that places my samsung galaxy note 9 near the gear stick (from Challenger) based on some recommendations on civicx forum, but now can I check if any of you guys have: 1. A Screen protector for the head unit? (Need one?) The ones I found on amazon are not suitable as they are for the left hand side cars... 2. Mat/liners for the central compartment and other pockets. An example I found (doesn't ship to sg) is something like this on Amazon.. not sure if anyone sells such stuff locally? Was formerly a Civic Hybrid but COE came up so changed to this.. It's more spacious but less pockets/compartments to put my barang barang lol.. Could I check too... 1. Is there any way to change the FC meter from XXl/100km to XX km/l? Tried under "meter" setting but couldn't find anything in there to change the unit metric. 2. Has anyone tried the Honda Hack? 3. Is the Econ function really that useful? Aside from a weaker AC, I mean lol.. 4. Any recommendations for some kind of paint protection/polishing? This will be my first time doing something like this so prolly want to start... economically? :) Keen to hear from you guys..!

This will be my first time doing something like this so prolly want to start... economically? :) Keen to hear from you guys..! Hi, you can join the CivicX Sg group at www.civicx.sg. They have a telegram chat group that will answer your questions. For 1, not possible to change to xx km/l with the head unit. My usage pattern is similar to yours. I get about 8-8.5l/100km. I usually try to pick up speed and then release throttle so that the green light comes on as soon as possible. Sometimes being too conservative with the throttle will end up using more fuel.Is your reading based on actual or head unit readings? My experience is the head unit reading is optimistic by up to 0.5l/100km. For example, the head unit is 8.0l/100km and actual is 8.5l/100km. Actual means taking distance travelled divided by petrol pumped (pumped till auto stop).
