Hello bros and sis, I am looking at the Civic turbo but like to under is the NVH sufficiently better than the GK Jazz? My previous ride is the 1st generation Kia Forte and now on a GK Jazz.

Am also currently a GK5 owner thinking of moving on to either the Civic Turbo or the Mazda 6 Executive. Also pretty concerned with NVH. GK5 really feels like riding in a tuna tin after a while.

 

Any comments from the bros here? i am sure many of you would have compared between these 2 models. Care to share your opinion on what swung u to Civic?

I did, and went with the Civic.

Planning to test drive the Mazda 6 soon, and also the eclipse cross. Tried Civic Turbo last weekend and this car reminds me of the 1.4 turbo Jetta. Exact same feel, power, weight distribution etc.

 

Got urge to just book the civic turbo actually. Hahaha... what made u choose civic over the 6?

My previous car is a 1.2 TSI VW. Civic turbo (FC) has a much smaller turbocharger and due to its CVT nature it doesn't give that strong push-back feel when you floor it. VW is more like you floor it, nothing happen... then next second WHOAAAAAA  [laugh]

 

Mazda6 sits taller, and has a more matured/luxury look which I'm not a fan of (still prefer sporty looking cars). the 2L is rather sluggish (0-100 over 10s) and the 2.5L commands high road tax. FC also has better fuel consumption. No AA/CarPlay in the Mazda which is one major setback for me. Mazda 6 definitely has better interior (BMW-ish).

nice summary between Civic Turbo and Mazda6

 

ultimately depends on individual needs and preferences

 

price of 1.5T civic has gone up by 6-7k over last 3-4 weeks, due to good demand plus recent coe increase

 

so about 10k nett difference bet civic & M6 after discount

 

if single/couple or small  family, civic excellent as it is much shorter, nimble, and light (200kg lighter) and drives well

 

M6 looks like a conti car from the front with luxurious interior and steady, especially cornering  

 

Remember the reason people compare a 1.5/1.6L vs 2.0/2.5L is here because of the price bracket

Today, I enquired at Honda Ubi:

The Civic 1.6 standard priced at $96,999

They take in my car for $39,669 (scrap value) + $2,500 = $42,169

Bought at around $103k

 

I have to come up $54,830 – no need to take loan

OMV for the civic standard is quite good ( about $20K? compared to abt $15 for the present altis)

 

Is it worthwhile to make a change?

What difference can expect for fc?

What difference can expect for responsiveness in city driving?

What difference can expect for cabin quietness?

If you drive the Altis for another 5 years until scrap, your annual depreciation will definitely be lower (103k - 8k scrap value)/10 ~ 9.5k PA

 

If you trade-in for Civic and do best case assumption that you are going to drive the Civic for 10years, your average annual depreciation is (103k + 55k - 10k)/15 = 9.9k PA.

 

Difference not a lot, I think can change - get nice new car.

 

FC, responsive, cabin quietness please go test drive and make your own conclusions.

Pros:

New car, under warranty - free servicing too?

Larger body and roominess

Large boot

Higher OMV

LED lights?

Steering controls

Some extra frills in the cabin

 

Neutral:

Not sure if the FC is better though..

Same number of airbags

 

Cons:

More complex electronics

A little extra money

Plastic on the Civic isn't that great

Agree. Makes sense to change. Also come 2023, he will be once again hit with a higher coe given the lower coe quota numbers.

So change now to get a new car and reset all the maintenance issues. Unless he really likes driving the current car.

Bro, think the deg value of ur altis is about 42k, check on this, plus a few hundred  for body and u can scrap it immediately after u have gotten ur civic

 

u sell urself should be around 45-50k 

 

Like what bros mentioned, civic like for like is a good choice , new car with better electronics and features, FC is debatable though depending on ur driving habits 

 

dont analyse too much when it comes to buying car

 

if u like it, the cost difference is minimal here, and u can afford it, just go with ur heart and dont look back!

You didn’t buy it brand new right? So the calculation isn’t right. 103k in July 2013 for a new altis was a steal Edited by Mkl22

Or if FC bothers you, try the Elantra too, cheap and good..

The next Corolla is fine too, and comes with a full suite of airbags. Solid rear legroom too.

haha, I am not very sure the final price. it was brand new. Cat E coe at $62,301.

 

could be 103, 104 or 106k or....

 

I switched booking from camry to altis. so the paperwork looked messy.

no more 2L cars for me - i switched down from 2L to 1.6  - glad for it when road tax comes along.

last Sat, i went Mit to look at the elipse cross priced at $108k. the car looks very big. surely sucks more fuel.

 

then i went next door to Kia cerato - below $90K.

still want to stick to Jap brand.

 

when is the new 2018/19 corolla coming into the market?
