This is about Hyundai elantra. He should not bring in irrelevant topic

I am curious, RogerNg_185295. Are you driving an Elantra?

I don't dislike this post but wonder why didn't the DCT detect the car is struggling and switch down another gear?

Most likely is because the access slope to my front porch is only 2 to 3 meters long, the algorithm of the gearbox got not enough time to lower the gear. If my house is a GCB then maybe will happen haha.

Why a healthy discussion turned toxic so quickly. From what I see, Douglas Kwok is just trying to be constructive and stood for what he believes is a reasonable mitigation from KMC. Nothing wrong with that and don’t have to take it so personally. I found the engine brake annoying especially when you brake lightly at 60kmph and lose significant power due to sudden decrease in RPM, and it takes awhile to recover to 60-70kmph.

Never came across my mind that the transmission will become an issue in the long-term and it’s good that someone highlighted this which is educating at the same time.

Manual transmission is the best. Edited by Ivan_06

Agreed, it for healthy discussion.

No need for personal attack and negative talk.

Adding transmission is to stir trouble. We are wise enough not to engage in such low value debate. Correct?

I drove Elantra for 2.5 year. There is noticeable engine brake at around 50 kmh if you do not accelerate; but it it NOT sudden jerk.

Thanks for updating that 2.5 years old car also have this.

Can I check if your is the AD euro 4 engine or MD?

Thanks

sometimes hard to give honest review here.

last time when i looking for new ride i gave my comment on elantra test drive mentioning the ride not refine as felt by my wife as well.

however i only get dislike as a rewards....

Agree with you, forum is as dangerous as PIE, there are good and bad and dangerous drivers. And you cannot stop anyone of them. Just like they cannot stop you from posting honest reviews.

Thank you for pointing it out. It could be my words come across too strongly for few to stomach. My SE have reached out to me to allay my concerns as shared in the previous post with quotes on the engine brake.

Okay, wow so heated.

Anyone using armor all and gyeon wet coat? Thought of posting in detailing forum but thought of getting feedback here as well.

Also, I decided against doing paint protection after many feedback from colleagues and friends. Will just do more washing and waxing (maybe get package) for now.

Can advise why paint protection not worth it?

Elantra owners need more people like you to help them

Many of my colleagues claimed that even those done by proper workshops (>$800) cannot really last very long, longest about 2 years plus.  Granted that most did not do follow-up polishing by the shop (because additional costs), they were conscientious owners who wash every week. And since I'm pretty value conscious, it did not make sense to me

One suggestion was to just wash and wax and treat it as a therapeutic process; or to go JB do polishing package.

Of course ymmv.

Hope it helps!

What helped to alleviate your concerns?

Neutral Newbie

Hi, collected my OPC Elantra S two weeks ago.
Anybody feel the poor heatshield quality of the windscreen solar film?

I can feel the heat when driving on the expressway and was heating up yesterday when stuck at the checkpoint in the afternoon [mad] .

When the gear downshifts at 50kph and you feel the pull, RPM increases. U actually have more power in case u need to accelerate again due to the higher RPM. If it doesn't downshift, you will be in a higher gear (lower RPM) and acceleration actually is slower.
