bros, i have a friend who bought in July last year, he saw i have andriod auto and ask me how to go about installing it. Sent him the app, installed on his phone and got him to plug in. But hor, his screen very different from mine.

So i suspect his unit is not apple carplay or andriod auto ready. Any bros can cfm this? His even got cd player slot. mine dosent' (my car collection is dec 2017)

aiseh, congrats. haha lucky no buy white or black...i very regret chosen white.

Got CD slot is different HU. Check if he has a rubber slot on the left hand side that covers a SD card. If have, he may be able to upgrade the firmware himself (like US models, youtube has guide on how to upgrade). If not, will have to get KMC to upgrade the firmware.

From my understanding, KMC does a 1 time free firmware upgrade only. Hope this helps.

Smart guy

no lah. Just that elantra is quite a no brainer at that price range.

Other than say a honda shuttle which is my 2nd top pick but it's a PI car.

I just want to elaborate further. Hahaha my own honda is not a VFM purchase.

My first car was an altis. At that time, civic was the best B&B car around. But the price difference for 1.6L & 1.8L was more expensive by 8-12k. Still young that time, so take the VFM route (of course debatable whether can choose lancer, Sx4 etc which is even cheaper But i think it's a no brainer that the resale values differ greatly).

So even though the test drive is civic is the better car (so obvious that even my mother ask me why i want to buy the altis), i chose the VFM route.

My current honda is not a VFM pick. It was 10k more than the teana 2.5L on paper and the teana 2.5L is already full spec-ed.

But i put a monetary value on my preference which was i could stomach the 10k depreciation difference. 15-20k i cannot stomach.

So now even though my car has like damn pathetic resale value (just few k above scrap), i can stomach it cos i really like my current car.

So choose a car, depending on your wallet and life cycle, place a monetary value on what your personal preference would have in your decision (just like accounting for goodwill in your asset and liabilities spreadsheet).

Then make the purchase.

Then don't need to say i should have bought Brand B instead of A

If you have money and can afford to have many choices for you to buy, then indeed quite headache and might ended up as VFM purchase. Best is your budget that can only afford one particular car model, no other choice to pick.

All boils down to individual's preference and budget constraint. Having more choices is a blessing :)
