Ryan_khoo 1st Gear July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 (edited) Those who just got your Elantra from the recent bidding, when will you be getting your car ? Thanks Can i also know the 2017 Elantra at the Hyundai showroom basically means the manufacturered date is 2017. In terms of looks & accessories, how different is it from those manufactured in Dec 2016 ? Ryan_khoo 1st Gear July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 If I am not wrong, the showroom model is year 2016.not year 2017.anyone can clarify? I have asked the Hyundai SE, he said the showroom model is manufactured in Year 2017. However, I am confused with Model Year and manufactured date. I think for Model Year 2016, some are manufactured in Year 2016 and some in 2017. So, that leads to my earlier question, is/are there any visual difference between: a) (Model Year 2016 - manufactured in Year 2016) vs b) (Model Year 2016 - manufactured in Year 2017) Thanks
Ryan_khoo 1st Gear July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 Another attempt on a day shoot. Due to the wide angle lens, the shape of the car is a little distorted. Thanks, anyone kind enough to let me know which block is this multi storey carpark ? Would like to take some photos of the HDB flats for my project, very colourful ... So, that leads to my earlier question, is/are there any visual difference between: a) (Model Year 2016 - manufactured in Year 2016) vs b) (Model Year 2016 - manufactured in Year 2017) Thanks Model year is in essence the version, meaning a 2017 manufactured MY2016 car should still be essentially the same as a MY2016 2016 manufactured specimen. But there might be some changes in equipment so check carefully, as due to our unique market conditions dealers bring in fixed specifications that might vary in equipment here and there. I recall a user here mentioned that ventilated seats have been omitted in newer batches of Elites. In the USA the Model Year is often a year ahead - for example the "2017 Ford Fusion" is released in 2016. I seem to recall Volkswagen felt so confident in the Golf when it debuted the Mk7 that they declared it as like one or two model years ahead. Not sure where I picked that up back then, could be a different car or different manufacturer. Long story short a MY2016 car, whether manufactured in 2016 or 2017, will be essentially the same. Our local SEs will probably just tell you that it is a 2017 car because it is built in that year. When Hyundai does a minor refresh or a facelift or or does some tweaks to their Elantra later in the year or whatever, it might inevitably become labelled a MY2017, or even MY2018. It's perfectly normal for model years to last in to the next year - it's just the same as when Apple launches an iPhone in, say, September, it is still current in July of the next year. Ryan_khoo 1st Gear July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 (edited) Thanks 7hm for your detailed reply. Yes the ventilated seats previously was only available in the Elite trim which was an Euro 4 & for current Elite trim the ventilated seats was taken out due to cost as Euro 6 cost more to comply (current Elite trim complies with Euro 6). In particular, anyone here knows whether what is/are the visual difference between the following S trim of Elantras: a) Model Year 2016 that was manufactured in 2016 and b) Model Year 2016 that was manufactured in 2017 Thanks again Cheers Model year is in essence the version, meaning a 2017 manufactured MY2016 car should still be essentially the same as a MY2016 2016 manufactured specimen. GravityBlue 4th Gear July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 Hi , current elantra is called MY16 , launched in korea in 2015. Practically/normally a model will last ~4 years , in between there may hv a facelift to give the model a newer look. So whether its made in year 16/17/18/19 its still a MY16 car. I have been monitoring the "S" & "EX" & VEZEL since early last yr , i read somewhere that "S" & "EX" are using same engine. Since EX is slightly cheaper than S , and hv cruise control , so i jump ship to Kia. Although my 1st choice is "S" , but its a few k saved. I would say , there is no physical difference between the old & new "S" , except the engine is tuned to satisfy the euro6 requirement.
teomingern 6th Gear July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I thought the designations for the Elantra are: GLS = basic trim S = mid trim Elite = top trim Isn't EX the mid trim for the K3? I thought it's as follows: L/LX = basic trim EX = mid trim SX (SX sports) = to trim
GravityBlue 4th Gear July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 Hi Bro Teo , U r right , i'm eyeing the middle trim from both H & K . H are more establised than K , just that i'm more cost conscious so ended up getting an EX.
CalebSeahHuaXiang Clutched July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 Was comparing with K3 EX and Elantra 'S' Model as well. Ended up going for elantra S. The reason was due to overall cost, i would save a lot more with Hyundai. Loan 2.48% vs 1.98% save me $1250 already. Insurance $2200 vs $1600 save me $600. Scrap Value $6500 vs $6900 save me $400. Trade in used car $5000 vs $0 save me $5000. So i feel that overall it was lot winner in terms of cost savings when i compared both of this model and decide to go for Elantra 'S'

U ARE RIGHT Scrap Value $6500 vs $6900 save me $400. No difference as trade in as paper value , 4days before coe ends Trade in used car $5000 vs $0 save me $5000. So i feel that overall it was lot winner in terms of cost savings when i compared both of this model and decide to go for Elantra 'S' overall after factored in above 2 points , still cheaper by 1k++

7hm Turbocharged July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 Seriously??? Quoting the big wiki on the Hyundai Pony (long long ago car): From 1984 to 1986, trim levels were L(standard), GL (deluxe), and GLS (glorious). The L featured vinyl seats, a fold-down rear bench seat, and usually a four-speed manual transmission mated to a 1.4 L I4 engine. The GL included vinyl-cloth seats, a standard clock (which was mounted in the instrument cluster) rear wiper, passenger-side mirror, tinted glass, lockable fuel door, standard door guards, upgraded interior trim, and (from 1985) an available 1.6 L engine. The GLS included the above with the option of a tachometer, passenger-side vanity mirror, full cloth seats, 50/50 fold-down seats, and (from 1985) a standard 1.6 L engine. ↡ Advertisement
