End of the day, you need to decide on the above. Economy or better drive. It should be economy or safety. For Elly, I find the road feel is really poor with the stock 15/195. Traction works both way, while the rolling resistant increase, the traction also help to move off vehicle easier. Fuel efficiency is really debatable. I'm on eco tyre with lightweight rim. Fc is slightly better with same travel pattern, compare to stock
Devilcup 3rd Gear April 22, 2019 Share April 22, 2019 Mainly the increase in road contact from 195(15) to 205(16). Changed mine to 225(17) last week. The result is really great, improve in traction and stability main reason why i change to 16 is 15 has so limited option of tyres...

Depend on how you interpret it. I was skeptical of 45 initially. But it's pretty decent, considering that I'm getting the cheap eco type Yokohama ES32. The ride is more stable with more road feel and feedback. I wont say its harsh, road feel is the right word. Should be better with good tires like Yokohama AE or Michellin. Using Advanti Racing Hygris, change at TaiHuat

When u travel on the same bump on the same road at the same speed everyday, do u feel less 'cushioning' after changing to 17"? how much did u pay nett after trade in? thanks. It's definitely "stiffer" due to less "cushioning".But at the expense of comfort? Nope. My family actually enjoy the ride better now as it's more stable and doesnt feel floaty. 1.2k after trading in my 11 month old stock rim
Devilcup 3rd Gear April 23, 2019 Share April 23, 2019 Actually i was looking for Enkei rim for 16inch. i pretty much know the stiffness of 17inch so would only wanna 16... Went to YHI they say no 16 for elantra.... if you look at Enkei website, they have decent 16inch rim which somehow it is not available in singapore... so sad... Btw, Advanti wheel only 15 or 17 and above... somehow 16 is not consider a choice of manufacture... YHI = Advanti? Another reason why not 17 is the price for tyres.... a good set of P7 should cost you 120.... my 16 is <100. Primacy 4 should be ard 120 to 140 for 16. and 130 to 160 for 17... i think it is clear for me as i cover > 2k km a month...

On the distance and cost, I think it depend on perspective. While covering longer distance makes sense to look at rubber cost.... it also means longer period on road that require some attention to safety. My opinion nia I changed to 16". Definitely feel better grip than stock 15". Do not feel any difference in terms of ride comfort.Yeah, my last Latio is also from 15 to 16, after renewed COE. Ride feel is the same as 17. Just that 17 had better traction, better road feel compare to 16, have driven latio for 12yrs and Elantra for almost a year. So generally my comment is based on above. Contemplating to take over 16" from a Elite Elantra earlier, but stock 16" is pretty heavy imo Edited April 23, 2019 by Familymanz

I did the same. in fact i trade in my original 15" for 17" rims n tyres. using Pirelli P7. got a good deal. more for road holding n look. ride will be a bit rougher but still ok to me. cannot have everything. did the same for last car, Wish. quite bad results bcos Wish suspension is harder and car base is longer. i think elantra is still acceptable to me.
