adrianty 1st Gear October 6, 2018 Share October 6, 2018 Anyone did coating after collecting car? Is it useful to retain the paint, especially for white elantra? ↡ Advertisement
Joelwong 2nd Gear October 6, 2018 Share October 6, 2018 The ratios can definitely be adjusted at the factory, but if you change the point of change, you are likely to have another segment of buyer complain that they lose 'power'.. The balance is somewhere in between, and of course it could be smoother. But why not focus on the nice parts. It's cheap, it's pretty safe, it's good a decent look, and it's pretty roomy. I mean....screw the emissions...lol
Heartlander Turbocharged October 6, 2018 Share October 6, 2018 Third gear braking caused the choking feeling, causing the post to repeat itself In an automatic car, gear ratios are a balance of smoothness and power. One drops a gear to get more torque to briskly move the car forward. In a heavy car, coupled with a smaller power output, the engineer has to design some gear ratio which allows the car to move briskly ahead or he can engineer a longer gearing, which is smoother, but the result may be complaints that the gear seems to lack that 'urge'.. Remember the Elantra engine has been sacrificing power over the last few iterations so as to achieve a cleaner output rating. Otherwise it would have been hit with a 10k VES surcharge, and it will no longer be the VFM car that has sold volumes in recent months. We choose good value and sometimes a small price to pay will be a slightly odd gearing... What is happening in this Elantra is really nothing compare to our B180 which applies engine brake like nobody business when going down a slope haha. Needed abit of effort to deal with it as the car would slow down considerably as it is, but not many would be foolharddy enough to press accelerator pedal when going down hill to increase the speed. So the car would be moving erratically or unpredictably to other cars around which is dangerous. This downshifting of gear is definitely more obvious in DCT car. zgim80 1st Gear October 7, 2018 Share October 7, 2018 I mean....screw the emissions...lolThen would likely have to pay 10k more for VES. Gladly take the 'engine brake' for the current price.

Astrokai 1st Gear October 7, 2018 Share October 7, 2018 On the 50km "drag" saw there is a red marking on the speedometer on 40 and 50km/h. Is this something tat hyuandai Korea wanted to inform buyers? Oh, saw deep scratches on my front bumper, below the head light. Most likely by another vehicle exiting carpark lot. Where would u buy the touch up paint / polish? Mine is red.

yapjx100 1st Gear October 7, 2018 Share October 7, 2018 (edited) Hey guys, got a noob question to ask. Just now after switching off the engine and opening the door, I accidentally moved the steering wheel a bit and heard a click sound. Is that the anti-theft steering lock feature and normal? Vicloo 1st Gear October 8, 2018 Share October 8, 2018 The gear was programmed to down shift earlier so that the car can pickup if driver suddenly pressed the accelerator again. If the gear shift programmed to down shift with delay later ppl complain no pickup..... Very hard to please everybody... just take it as it is. Actually there is a manual way to overcome this easily... just drive it similar to a manual car, when you are slowing down to a Junction stop, put to Neutral "N" when it hit 55km/hr, car will glide smoothly u just have to brake as needed for a complete stop :). Agree, in other words, carmaker needs to strike a balance among the parameters. Comfort, power, at the same time meet the ever increasingly tough to meet emission standard. I tried this with my old ride by shifting to N the car glide further compared to maintain at D, I still cannot understand technically how this can spoil the transmission... I still wondering how this can spoil the gearbox.... the only thing that i found ppl against this because driver lose the control on the car.

May I also ask what’s the short whirring sound after I open the door, and also after I press the engine start button? That’s not the steering lock hor? ↡ Advertisement
