You've got a good buy... don't worry about reliability... no issue... they have Nissan know how as part of their alliance in saving Nissan from bankruptcy... so they learnt to make more reliable cars...

It's the build quality that may not be as good as the Altis. Although the Altis is made in Thailand, Toyota's QC is pretty good... my dad's Fluence is definitely not up to par... but I think this Megane is significantly better in build quality... the ST review did make mention of this...

Yes it does seem that the finishing is a little better. Soundproofing also improved as the diesel clatter can be heard faintly in the fluence during test drive, but the megane was a lot quieter although both same engine

Well done, James! A good deal if you got yours during the Easter weekend promo.., think effectively couple k's more "off" especially with prospect of likely short-term COE increases.

It is not perfect (none is) in many aspects, but is overall a fine, comfortable, roomy & good-looking car.

Now we pray the govt doesn't play us out by progressively tightening the screws, year on year, to force lesser use of diesel's.., or their demise altogether for non-commercial use.

Notice the ERP in increases? And hyperactive "uncles" out there with cameras, and also more speed and surveillance cams? These affect all but sometimes watching just how inconsiderate some drivers are.. almost feel they are really needed.

Haha ya indeed true. Are u driving a diesel car too? One of the risk is that the "special tax" on top of the road tax can be increased without warning

After consideration comparing between quite a few cars, have decided to take the leap of faith to down deposit for a megane(standard)

Was actually intending to just cross the road and get the altis for the same price but quite a few factors pushed me to the megane

1. Megane certainly looks much better both inside and outside

2. Megane is also slightly roomier with larger boot

3. Megane a lot more features such as in built tpms, hands free boot, rear ac....

4. I travel about 20to 25k km a yr and this saves me more than 1k in petrol a yr

5. 3 yrs free servicing compared to only 1yr fr borneo

6. Sales person from wearnes was SIGNIFICANTLY more engaging and friendlier than Borneo without being overly pushy

7. Megane's turbo diesel gave a much better drive than altis

Reliability wise i am sure toyota is a better bet but i figured with the savings of 3 yrs servicing and diesel it prob add up to the same.

Congrats !! Seems like they keep the same price since Feb. Definitely a good price to get now. On top of that , my SE throw in free ceramic coating, watches, petrol voucher....etc. Did you still get all these ?

Congrats too..seem like no one is buying the petrol ver as me..

LOL, bro..

Think for most.. there wasn't the petrol version to consider then. It's only quite recent that the 1.2P engine became available in the sedan. The 1.2P is also a proven winner.

The 1.5 turbo diesel in the Megane is a newer version than that in the Fluence. More power and torque and more refined too... much better... it's the latest turbo diesel from Renault... it's the same unit used by BMW and Mercedes...

Think the weekend promotion has no petrol version of megane sedan so was not given a choice. I may end up choosing petrol if same price ($105K) since it is also an fuel efficient engine with the same body :)

Congratulations on your purchase of the Megane. [thumbsup]

Good deal, but for such car, you MUST keep the car for 10 years, as there’s practically no resale value.

Yes, picked up the 1.5D sedan but went away next day, so only starting to discover n enjoy the car. 1st French-designed car for me.

Finding excuse to maximise use the car to run it in... manual suggests 6k for the diesel. So far so good,

Almost "effortlessly" can get fc of sub-5,5l/100km!

looks like the GT line now going for 109K .. pretty decent prices for a 1.5T with better specs then a VW golf 1.2T

Got mine on 9 May. Titanium grey (standard). Drive feels good. So far driven about 300km plus with FC at 4.8km/l. Initial pick up a bit slow but once onto 3rd gear can feel much better pick up. Auto start stop rather irritating so i usually turn it off

4.8L per 100 km you mean??? 4.8 km/L is super car territory... hahaha...

Congrats, bro.. 4.8l/100km, that's remarkable FC!

U must be a super-eco driver! Super!

Now hovering between 5.8 n 6.1 myself after 1500km.

Enjoy the acceleratiom, usually rev up to the max torque rpm range.. so only 2 leaves om the eco "branch".

Dunno how it sounds outside but inside it's really quiet despite revving up. Renault does a good sound insulation on this car. Super pleased!

Haha ya i din rev hard cos still new don't dare to whack too hard and also this period quite a lot of highway driving about 70%. In fact just before my first fill up was average at 4.6l per 100km on the trip computer.
