K5G1 2nd Gear April 5, 2017 Share April 5, 2017 Oh, you only wrote look cheapo and dated.. so mean it's look you were concerned with, not efficiency or what else. HID's may be more efficient when new, but they cost more and deteriorate quicker. To each his own needs and sensiblity, bro... no need to feel offended just coz others don't agree.
Vratenza Supersonic April 5, 2017 Share April 5, 2017 Are you sure u know what you are talking about? Or argue for the sake of reaasuring your own self? Sealed-beam and halogen headlights are incandescent: they use a filament charged with electricity to produce light. HID headlights are arc lamps, like a neon sign. Instead of heating a filament to produce light, electricity arcs between two electrodes inside the bulb. HIDs are more efficient than halogen lamps, making more light with less energy. The bulbs also last considerably longer, around 2,000 hours compared to 200-400 hours for a halogen bulb. http://knowhow.napaonline.com/how-hid-headlights-work/ Oh, you only wrote look cheapo and dated.. so mean it's look you were concerned with, not efficiency or what else.HID's may be more efficient when new, but they cost more and deteriorate quicker. To each his own needs and sensiblity, bro... no need to feel offended just coz others don't agree. K5G1 2nd Gear April 5, 2017 Share April 5, 2017 No need to reassure myself. Had HID's before, nice and super bright.. but imho really don't need such. HID's will deteriorate, just like halogens will. 1 arcing, 1 heated elemrnt. Just matter of use and time before both will finally fail. Original material quality and manfacturing standard do play tbeir parts too. HID's have more parts in the system that can/will fail. If all's well all's well. If a crtical part fails... As they deteriorate, may also cause cataracts on lamp covers. The latest good halogens are still rated 55W, within most manufacturers' design specs. Surely you know as much or more. As said..to each his own needs, and happy with his own.

LOL.. surely any car in Singaoore will not have a good price. We also pay for their weekly advertisements and parties that entice us to visit their showrooms. Guess your view is based on relativity with peers. Don't think there's any like-for-like in all aspects. Closest conti is probably the middle- or top- trim Jetta, or maybe A3? They would be "more exoensive". That said, think Wearnes prices at what they think competitive enough to sell.. and these delivers a suffficient margin for them to hold net pricing despite COE increases. If include non-conti, then maybe Altis, Pulsar, Mazda3, K3 and their siblings under different brands also get into the fight? K3 is relatively "good value" for money in terms of the stuff the price includes.., but then it's a different car.
