Bluepica 4th Gear September 5, 2015 Share September 5, 2015 Anyone know where I can tailor make my sofa cover? My did promised IKEA sofa cover can be changed but they don't sell it anymore... Online selling about USD 300 per set... It's the old Nikkala sofa but the material is still very good though have been using it for past 10years. Wonder if local tailor made will be cheaper... Two seater only ↡ Advertisement
Flying_genie 6th Gear September 5, 2015 Share September 5, 2015 To custom make sofa cover not cheap. A lot of work involved. Curtain/sofa shops are normally not keen to custom make covers. Price won't be cheap either. If still want to make, strip the old covers, bring it to Malaysia. Get them to measure. Even after measuring, it may not be a perfect fit. Very troublesome. Depending on size and material, should be less than RM500. As your sofa is >10 years, it's probably a lot cheaper to buy a new sofa; a lot less hassle too.
A_korusawa 5th Gear September 5, 2015 Share September 5, 2015 totally agree! I have a set of custom made leather sofa from Lorenzo (master edition) made for me some years back. to date, design and foam are still very 'in' and 'firm'. . . . but the premium leather has given way to our horrid hot & humid weather..... even with constant conditioning and care (my sofa is subject to sun & slide water splashes from swimming pool, and of coz my children)..... the seating surface starts to crack and becomes flaky . . . we love the design so much, as such we spent the last 6 months looking for contractors all over if they can replace the leather but each of them cost me a bomb!!! thus, it may be right to get a new set instead . . . . BanCoe Hypersonic September 5, 2015 Share September 5, 2015 i know there are a few shops (HDB ground floor itself) doing upholstery near Eunos MRT station on Eunos Ave 3 (there is a kopitiam nearby) and many hardware shops which you can see from the corner itself and I remember seeing a few Uphostery shops there - good Luck! Piyopico Supercharged September 5, 2015 Share September 5, 2015 Labour costs in Singapore very expensive. Buy new made in China set from TaoBao at 1/3 the price better la. If you upholster in Singapore the businesses will need more foreign workers, but you end up pay more wor...........you know the rests la. 😆 😁
VictorSue Neutral Newbie December 28, 2015 Share December 28, 2015 Hi I dropped you a PM for these. I have 2 original sets from IKEA still in the package - one red colour, one dark brown colour. The material is a heavy tweed fabric. We bought it awhile back for our NIKKALA sofa, but then sold the sofa and I forgot I had the covers. I'm ok with $125USD ($175SGD) for one set. Or take both sets for $200USD ($280SGD) Let me know if you're interested, thanks! ↡ Advertisement
