EricChan 5th Gear January 31, 2016 Share January 31, 2016 (edited) Teat drove the kadjar. I must say, in terms of engine smoothness.. It wins peugeot and citroen. Space wise, bigger than qashqai. SE cannot answer what are the common parts with qashqai though. Peugeot - too many complain flying out there particularlly on 3008 car stalling suddenly, and monthly affair at SC. It has even escalate into a safety issue. Citroen - i have alot of ---ve exeprience.. Needless to say 1 thing worrtlying is the dashboard. Its looks expensive to fix is anything is wrong with it. Guess only time will tell how relaible this kadjar will be I have an open mind because past performance doesn't mean same outcomes in the future. Having said that I have one colleague who got rid of his Peugeot for a Toyota and sweared off french cars because of acclimatizing issues- spurious fancy over sensitive interlocks were preventing him from driving off (he thinks he has to park it in the shade). Another colleague's 3 years old Citroen whose gb suddenly would not allow her to get to higher gears and had to have it immediately replaced. So these elaborately complicated electronic vehicular infotainment looks good but has been a double edge sword in their case. Fuelsaver Supercharged January 31, 2016 Share January 31, 2016 Chris Tan review on the Kadjar. Other than the styling, he doesn't have good comments unfortunately.Bro u r lurking everwhere, almost, in new car threads lol. So u r not in agrrement w the writer. Either we r not professional like him or he is unhappy w renault. I found the chassis n shock absorption quite reasonable when travelling on bumpy stretch of asphalt. Mayb we didnt try start stop traffic.

To stick it back cost $380...i went to buy super glue and stick a few points to hold it back. 2. Unable to engage P gear at year 4. Had to move forward and reverse repeatly until it engages P. Had an accident, sent to work shop, and this problem didnt reappear 3. Starter motor faulty at year 5 and year 8.5. Fix for $500 each time 4. Solenoid valve issue since year 5. Occassionally morning start off vehicle it will prompt gearbox faulty and stuck at gear 3. Restart vehicle and its fine again for the day. Went CnC for a few time but they always say no problem. Until near year 8.5, the fault light came on permanently and i send it to thomas & partner to had it fixed. Solenoid + canble harness total $700 5. Cooling hose burst in year 7. Fix it for $600 at external 6. Alternator spoil in year 7. Overhaul it for $300 at external 7. Fuel pump spoil in year 7. Cost $500 at external 8. Coroded aircon pipe in year 5. Went tomika to fixed it for 1.5k 9. Engine could not crank. No sound at all. Battery only 6 month. Tow to check, cable at the keyhole loose. That is year 5. 10. Spark coil casket leaking. Change all spark plug, spark coil, casket for 1.3k at CnC year 8 11. Rear brake disc wearing out at year 8. Changed breakdisc and breakpad for 1.5k al cnc 12. You considering / reviewing the Kadjar otherwise why are you here ? Im here to see if any renault owner here has any feedback on renault car. I am attracted to the kadjar by its design, frugality and similar platform as qashqai, yet at the same time, i have scar from another french made. Surprisingly, i dont see alot of renault complain My expereince is just to share what i have went thru. I pay alot to learn all this.

Wear and tear are 3-4 times higher than a Japanese car. I think corroded Aircon pipe takes the cake. This type of crap can only come from the French.

Good test would have been to compare with another make of the same no. Of years ownership but then again driving habits, mileage n differing road conditions may play a part as well. Anyway my opinion only n just trying to give balance to the overall picture. Good luck n hope u get a better ride next round! So a more general question would be, at what age (or mileage) is a car starting to give problems considered "acceptable"? Clearly within the first and second year (first 30,000km) it's not. Maybe 3rd and 4th year is "maybe"? 5th year (or 80,000km-90,000km) onwards for me, i think is reasonable.

Some of these yes they would happen with any car given more or less the time frame. And you are very right - owners - habits - and road condition play a big part as well. But rest of them - I wouldn't suspect them to be a problem at all.

I disagree most people will sell cars around year 4 at high COE level and my Jap car gave me far less problem from my 8 yrs ownership though the mounting and absorber starting to give me problem now. Changed the aircon clutch once, that only "major" wear & tear repair. Count me lucky maybe.
Spring Moderator February 11, 2016 Share February 11, 2016 I disagree most people will sell cars around year 4 at high COE level and my Jap car gave me far less problem from my 8 yrs ownership though the mounting and absorber starting to give me problem now. Changed the aircon clutch once, that only "major" wear & tear repair. Count me lucky maybe. The selling cars at 4 yrs was a comment made in general conditions and not meant to be sweeping statement for everyone at anytime and I do agree this may not be the norm anymore now. I said this cos I just wanted to compare the problems this Citroen face compared to someone with the same no. of years ownership which is difficult as most of us normally don't drive the same new car for that many years. However, it seems like you are a good candidate then as you have owned a Jap car for around the same time as the Citroen owner. May I know which brand is that? FYI, I owned a Civic for 5yrs 4mths till recently and only issue I had was the side mirror couldn't retract in year 4 which was covered under warranty, otherwise it was a very reliable car. Anyway good for you and I do agree Jap cars are generally more reliable. However, I must add that due to the lesser electronics in Jap cars esp previously, they tend to be more reliable as the Contis like to have lots of electronics. My take is mechanical parts tend to be more durable than electronics in general but I do note the Citroen mentioned had mechanical parts spoilt as well.

Well many people do say most of the problem i met are wear and tear and depends on the mileage.. But i can do say is if the SC can forsee the problem, rectify it early, it would have been a plesant experience Now, back to renault. Any negative feedback on SC? Im comparing harrier and xtrial.. Maybe kadjar too.. Diesel is tempting.. Yet conti scar still burning. What does 5 year factory warranty cover?
