TQaR 2nd Gear August 24, 2015 Share August 24, 2015 Hi Kakis, Need advice from fellow MCFers regarding my hyundai getz 06'. Been using the car over 1.5 yrs now since bought second hand, no problems so far. Just lately, the steering makes a clunk clunk noise when i turn full left (left in particular cuz it doesnt make the sound when i turn full right). any fellow getz owner face same problem and would u know of any possible remedy? Or any recommended workshop that i can to to check it out? Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
Jamesc Hypersonic August 24, 2015 Share August 24, 2015 Could be steering bush. I think about $100 + to repair but since COE almost up can save a bit of money by just turning right. :)
Watwheels Supersonic August 24, 2015 Share August 24, 2015 Just Google lor. http://www.gobluedevil.com/blog/why-is-their-noise-when-turning-my-steering-wheel/ Front End Noises and Possible Problems: Clunk, squeak, click, or creak: These noises usually indicated worn shocks, suspension bushings, ball joints or tie rods. These noises can also be accompanied by wandering, poor ride quality or vibrations. Metallic grind or ring: These noises usually are from worn brake components. Look into replacing either your pads, shoes or rotors soon! Crunching or clicking while turning sharply: Your CV joint has likely gone bad and should be replaced. Hum: A hum usually indicates the wheel bearing is going bad. This should be checked out by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible. Screech, squeal or whine: These sounds usually indicate a problem in your power steering system, either a lose belt, bad pump or low power steering fluid. 13177 Hypersonic August 25, 2015 Share August 25, 2015 If it doesn't affect your steering and just some noise, just leave it lo since it is going to scrap next year or so.

Yea, can probably skip repairing it since your car is going to scrap next year. Clunking sound when at full lock to the left/right is usually CV joints. Fuelsaver Supercharged August 25, 2015 Share August 25, 2015 Reads like the CV Joints need servicing. Not any workshop will do CV joints servicing, or know how to do it. Should cost about $90/- to do it. Worn CV joints can cost a few hundred dollars to replace. What other service for cv joints avail, other than replacing rubber boot n degrease n repack new grease? TQaR 2nd Gear August 26, 2015 Author Share August 26, 2015 I have 1 year 2 months left.. if its something major then of course doesn't make sense to do it. But i am slightly unsure, as in i definitely dont want a breakdown while driving or something u know. plus i frequent NSH to KL/Ipoh n all so i find it a bit risky. Will take to a workshop this afternoon so lets see whts the approximate hole in my pocket will be. Thanks! :) ↡ Advertisement
