Why need to pay extra when one can get from the banks at face value?

It's not as if the notes are special with special numbers??! ...

Typos in packaging of SG50 commemorative notes

The name of Singapore's first President Yusof Ishak was misspelt as "Yusok Ishak" on a foldout portion of the packaging, as well as in a booklet.

SINGAPORE: The launch of the SG50 commemorative notes set on Thursday (Aug 20) was marred by typos.

The name of Singapore's first President Yusof Ishak was misspelt as "Yusok Ishak" on a foldout portion of the packaging as well as in an enclosed booklet. There were no errors in the spelling of his name on the commemorative notes, released to mark Singapore's Golden Jubilee.

In response to Channel NewsAsia's queries, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said it is printing stickers to cover the erroneous text.

“We apologise for an unfortunate typographical error in our first President Yusof Ishak's name in the folder containing the SG50 notes," said an MAS spokesperson in a statement. "We are printing stickers to replace the misspelt part of his name. The stickers will be affixed to the folders available from the banks, from Aug 25 onwards. Those who have already collected the folders may also obtain the stickers then."

MAS added: "We are otherwise encouraged by the very positive feedback we have been getting from Singaporeans on the SG50 notes. We hope that Singaporeans will treasure these notes."

Long lines were spotted at banks across the island on Thursday morning, as many people queued for up to half an hour to get their hands on the set.

actually see bay boh standard, print stickers and ask people to paste. should be a total reprint. reflection of government's approach towards situations ? patch and cover up instead of proper fixing...

oh yes, like stamps with errors ... will be worth much much more.

recall many years ago also some cock up with $2 note ? seriously, its not like we are issuing new notes every 3 or 6 months, this type of mistake should not have happened, and the rectification of the matter is appalling.

Guys, if you want to have the least queue, check for a bank that open the latest, say like 11am when all the other banks around it open at 9 or 10 am.

Those that open early will be crowded because most people want to be early. You go look for the ones that open at 11am. Those that open late will be totally "ignored" and even at 11.30am, there may not be even any queue.

Of course, avoid lunch crowd and after work crowd.
