stock markets crashes, jobs are lost, economy goes into recession

coe falls to 20k and altis starts selling at 70k

Will the average man on the street still buy when not knowing if he still has a job to report to tomorrow

No lah, COE falls to 1k, Hyundai accent starts selling at 40k. [smash]

The effect on COE may not be felt so fast. Dealers may still be clearing their backlogs and the stock markets may not affect the man on the street so soon.

Turbocharged

Honestly. With this stock market rout. I have sympathy for those who just bought their cars.

Mark my words. Look at coe bidding in December.

Of coz!

People will hold back on their purchases

Thanks... now I'm @#$%ed.

:TT_TT:

Haha... though I feel doubtful a crash can happen. Anyway comes to resale time what matters is the COE at that time...

Must...not...have...regrets..................

you know what, @#$% it. :a-panic:

Bro, enjoy your new ride to the fullest while the rest of us here continue to worry that our car may not start in the morning and wonder when to go workshop.

I'm not saying coe will crash.

I'm saying it will drop .

Perhaps to 40k?

The stock market is a bloodbath. Many are hit

The effects will be felt in Dec coe bidding

Not necessarily. The last COE bidding exercise was last week. The markets were already jittery then. Some may have already waited out.

2597 bids last exercise and 1756 got their COE. This leaves 841 bids going forward to the 9 Sep exercise. This is the base number of confirmed bids for that exercise. As number of bids has historically never been below quota, we should at least have 1.7k bids for the next exercise, which means an additional 900 new buyers. So now the question is whether the red stock market will prevent another additional 800 new buyers from joining the market and keeping demand at the same level.

I'd be laughing my arse off if Cat A COE drops next round by 10% to $52K.

COE crash? Possible if the ruling party loses majority votes and Workers Party forms a new govt. Haha

With the backlog orders, will COE ever crash?

Aiyah bro. This stock market move leading to COE crash is still ambiguous lah. Still 50/50 that no effect on next COE. The crash this time is more due to marketing positioning in an illiquid market than any new problem.

What if you had waited and COE drop 15k but the ride you had wanted to buy no more available in market?

Maybe in this scenario also another regret so sama sma lah.

Cruel to suggest this but some of the 841 may decide to walk away and lose their deposits if they think coe will drop much more...

actuallyi doubt coe will drop next round or even by much. they have 1 extra weekend to collect orders. Unless everyone is not buying a car coz of 7th month.

Guys in uni remember the professor saying

Stock market is forward looking and forward thinking

So there might be something in the future

So eventually it will trickle down to economies and eventually Coe

That is a guaranteed 10k bet against an unknown result (drop in COE). COE would have to drop by more than 10k, and the returns are minimal. To save 10k, COE would have to drop by 10 + 10 = 20k.

Agree. To make this worthwhile, you will need to have thought that there is 50% chance that COE will drop more than 20k
