The chap in the article says he had to climb down from the 27th floor so it isn't just the ground floor.

Maybe it is because we are having more escalators and elevators, so we hear more such incidents. But I think the real reasons are, we expect these machines to works harder and rely on too many electronics instead of mechanical. Elevators are expected to go above 8 m/s which is very fast. Just imagine a 150 m building, from the minute the lift moves, to reach the top of the building takes 19 minutes if it didn't stop at any other floor.

We need to be more patience and not to push till safety is compromised. Manufacturers will always say can to capture the market but there is always limits and failures of components.

Poor chap. Sit until the chair break.

By the way, how does this work? If I'm waiting on the 25th floor, how will the lift attendant know I am waiting?

How likely is it that 3 lifts in the same block have the same problem? Other blocks with the same model no issue?

Fujitec lift also have problem? I also wonder how does this work? How come need a lift attendant? Still dont understand what has happened?

then you may be right. the resident has to hope that one of the 3 lifts is stopped at or very near his floor.

The lift call button on each floor is spoilt. Each lift will have a lift attendant sitting inside going up and down whole day, and press the button of a particular floor if he notices someone.

I see, so the call button is spoilt. But how would the lift attendant able to see if there is people taking lift? Since some people might not stand infront of the lift door.

Actually can't be the button itself spoilt.... cuz that would mean 30 buttons all spoilt (1 for each floor?)

Wah! This chap could have been killed. But even if he died, I'm sure Sengkang GRC will still get super green for their lift maintenance report card.

BTW, this is confirm fake news also because 3 stories is about 10m. You can't fall 10m in 1 second freefalling  [grin]

3 stories in one second still alive

Already said it physically impossible to free fall 3 stories in 1 second (based on Earth gravity).

Therefore this is fake news and the lift is actually working perfectly.

might be exaggeration by the victim or new reporter. whether it really happened or not, depends on whether anyone will investigate or not.

I have encounter whenever the lift floor is not level(an ankle height's diff) with the floor outside the lift, the lift will be catapulted either up or down depending on where it's going. I know it's not a good sign and I don't go into the lift.

Lifts systems have counter weights hence when the floors aren't level or aligned it's like the lift's steel cables are being tensioned and pulled back like a slingshot. Once the doors close....bye bye.
