Self Washing after Paint Protection System

Is there any paint protection coating (ceramic, glass, Teflon etc) that after application, we do no require to wash weekly but let the natural (rain) to do the job for next 3 to 5 years which any of you can recommend?

For normal PPS, I don't suggest petrol kiosk wash. For e.g CS-III users should not be using petrol kiosk wash. The jet spray is just too harsh and could remove the coating.

 

For ceramic coating which is much harder, I think it is ok for petrol wash, but please don't do it regularly. Wash yourself if possible.

 

Some forumers here are asking which coating need not wash the car and just use rain wash.  Come on, these PPS coating is not applied to be totally wash-free. It is for easier maintenance but most importantly, to protect the paint from UV rays, acidic rains and the harsh environments. That's what you are paying for....certainly not for being wash free forever.

For a car treated with PPS, after washing (no waxing needed), the shine comes back, and is as good as the 1st day the PPS is applied.  Without PPS, after washing and no waxing, the car might not be as shiny as before.

 

Some advice:

1) Don't use petrol station car wash.  With PPS, washing is a breeze because it is much faster and easier to remove dirt. 

2) Water marks can appear on a car not treated with PPS and they are sometimes almost impossible to remove, as the water could penetrate deep into the paintwork.  PPS can protect your car from permanent water marks from forming.

 

That said, PPS cannot protect against flying stones that cut deep across your car body (those sustained during high speed driving).  As best, PPS protects against superficial scratches, and a regular maintenance (twice yearly) with your car grooming workshop will ensure that your PPS is still intact and not compromised.

 

Some people thought that with PPS, the shine is always there.  Not true.  If you don't wash for a long time, dirt will accumulate on the car body and reduce the shine.  However, the dirt is not adhered to the paint surface, and thus it can be removed easily, as long as the PPS is not compromised, and the original shine will return. 

 

Many brands of PPS comes with a guarantee of between 2 to 5 years. 

 

For those who don't want to pay for PPS, normal washing will do.  I personally do not recommend waxing.  It may make the car looks shiny, but it actually damages the paintwork, when it is done many times over a long period of time.

Does anyone use the Pika Pika rain PPS? The cheapest PPS that can last for 5 years from applicator. Claimed that they are the #1 brand in Japan. Best that can even easily purchase from ebay/Amzon etc. Wonder why hardly see much review from this brand

That one is advertisement - the folks trying to push their $$$$$ glass coating of course wanna bad mouth traditional waxing where the $$ does not go into their pockets.

I have just tried those PPS 9h coating with 5 yrs warranty on my current new car. Results not very fantastic or what i expected. Shine is not there as compared to waxing it. Only benefit i find is, its easier to wash the car and clean off dirt. Waxing need to go back every quarterly, but PPS just go back once per year for maintenance. IMHO, i think products out there are more or less the same, its the workmanship and the skills of the person who apply for u that makes the difference.

Based on my research, the Cquartz Finest look the best among the rest based on deep wet look from photos (I could be wrong). Also come with 5 yrs warranty.

 

As you have mentioned as the rest almost the same, I just go for less maintenance and cheapest that can last 5 yrs for half/less than half the price. This few days rain almost throughout the day. Sending for coating is a pain in my ass. I waited for 8 hrs after coating for rain to stop (need 8 to 12 hrs to cure).  It started to rain again during half way of my journey :omg:
