Osprey23 Turbocharged April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 (edited) Actually Chelsea has one of the strongest youth set ups. Won 3-4 FA Youth Cups in the past 5 years and also the current holders of the UEFA Youth Cup. Trouble is the majority of these players will not get into the first X1 cos the club are impatient and more willing to buy proven players. Likewise for City as well. So whilst I do commend the owners for willing to splash on youth recruitment, I do wonder why they don't have more faith in their own but I guess instant success is big clubs mantra. U19 and up yes, maybe they are the strongest, but below that, tides are turning Edited April 1, 2016 by Osprey23 ↡ Advertisement
Spring Moderator April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 The EPL's 5 deadliest finishers. 4 of them I'm not really surprised but Wijnaldum is a surprise. I rate him as a player but didn't know his shot conversion rate is so good! http://www.teamtalk.com/news/premier-leagues-top-five-sharp-shooters

Scion Turbocharged April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 but if you look at the 4 major leagues (Spain, Germany, England, Italy), their big clubs all import lots of foreign stars but Italy still managed to produce their world class players in the 90s/2000s (Buffon, Del Piero, Cannavaro, Nesta, Totti, Vieri, Maldini, Inzaghi, etc), Spain in the late 2000s, and Germany in the 2010s and each of them won the World Cup (the past 3 WC) even France completed the double (WC and Euro) in 1998 and 2002 even though their league was not anywhere considered strong whereas England has been always a pretender and not a contender
Beregond Supersonic April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 (edited) kind of missing the era when Man Utd had homegrown players like Bekcham, Neville brothers, Butt, Giggs and Liverpool had McManaman, Redknapp, Fowler, Owen.... then Chelsea and Man City just came in and buy all the foreign stars it did make EPL more competitive and nicer to watch, but England national team became crappy (not that they were world class before) actually England team are crappy since the start of modern football, how many world cup or euro they win ? look at serie A 80 - late 90s top Italian team like AC MIian inter milan, juv , etc, are fill with foreign stars they won the w.c 2006, reach a final b4, now Italian leg are in decline, their top club cannot accord any international stars, but I dun see their national team any better or any promising Italian star player coming up Edited April 1, 2016 by Beregond

Osprey23 Turbocharged April 2, 2016 Share April 2, 2016 A team with no history. No history. No soul too. And i hope they dun qualify for the champions league..... They will create their own history. Just that oil money makes it happen faster only. Looking at what happened to Villa this season. A club with history but yet, due to poor management, is going down. Spurs want Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi this summer but have to fend off interest from other clubs such as Arsenal and West Ham. Spurs have held talks with reps to sign the Belgian international striker.

Spring Moderator April 2, 2016 Share April 2, 2016 (edited) A team with no history. No history. No soul too. And i hope they dun qualify for the champions league..... Just watch a poor Villa team being dismantled by Chelsea. So much for having history. As I always say history was earned but it remains that history. What's more important is the present n also future. To be fair to City, they are making history now and not fair you say they got no soul as well. Spurs were in this position many years back but they established themselves against the might of Arsenal, United, Pool n other big teams in the early 20th century to be where they are now n kudos to them for that. Only fair other teams are given that opportunity now. No old boys club pls......football is all about competition n if it means new teams breakthrough, let's give them their due rather than name calling, tks!
