Osprey23 Turbocharged March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 Indeed Leicester is proof that 4-4-2 is not outdated, with overlapping full-backs running like Energiser bunnies! The lack of injury to their star performers has also greatly contributed to this amazing run. And Ranieri is not just a tinkerman, he really knows what he's doing this time round. Luck does play a part but Leicester should at least finish as runners-up should Spurs maintain their tireless running and pressing game. Ranieri and Pochettino are the coaches of the season for me IMHO, formation will always compliment the style of play and the players being deployed. So we can say that Ranieri preferred 4-4-2 as it works best with the counter attacking style of play which can be executed well by the players at his disposal. With lesser games, lesser injuries, he can have a stable team and that helps tremendously as well. It is just their year in my opinion. Hopefully they can push on and win the league. ↡ Advertisement
Othello Supersonic March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 Fully agreed, Rooney no more first X1 player for the national team but he should be in the squad for his experience, leadership and possible impact off the bench. Kane and/or Vardy should be leading the line based on current form! Don't underestimate the importance of leaders in a squad as most of title winning teams have a few of these characters in their squad. agree on needing old bird as a mentor/leader etc ..... however, Rooney is definitely NOT a leader. Just ask any ManU fans Rooney has repeatedly flopped at major tournaments, what makes Woy thinks he can still have any form of impact ? . . . . . . An example very similar to Rooney K.Miura, who was the Japan's highest goalscorer was left out of their 1st World Cup 98 despite scoring 14 times during qualifying. Reason --> Kazu has no place this time in my game plans for our World Cup. I couldn't find a place for him even when thinking about the possibility of him being a substitute,''

I couldn't find a place for him even when thinking about the possibility of him being a substitute,'' I suppose the jury is out on whether Rooney is a leader or not and if he can still be impactful on the team or not. I tend to feel he still is but obviously United fans and yourself think otherwise, we shall see I guess. Having said that, with the retirement of players like Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole and co, England have practically no leader/experienced player left. If not mistaken, bar Rooney, there are no players with 50 caps or more in the squad left (maybe Milner has?) and whilst more caps doesn't mean you are a leader, tournament experience counts and Rooney is one of the few who has this albeit he has not performed well in the tournaments he has taken part in for one reason or another. In short, I feel he is worth a place in the squad. Anyway England likely to bring 4-5 strikers to Euro2016 and they will likely be Vardy, Kane, Welbeck, Rooney and Sturridge injuries and form permitting.
Osprey23 Turbocharged March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 Didn't Woy state that Rooney is still integral to his plan? Like it or not, with Woy at the helm, Rooney will be picked.

Spurman Supercharged March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 Gotze seems more and more like a done deal. His allegiance and confidence with Klopp was the main deal. He is entering last year of contract so Bayern should look to cash out unless the new manager next season wants to try his hand to convince him to stay. I think hard to give him the playing time that he craves... 15-20M fee range is definitely a steal in today's market.. for benteke, let's start the lelong. no 25M no talk. but seriously, I think the top clubs in the continental should look more attractive to him than West Ham. his nonchalent style is more suitable in EU football rather than the high energy EPL.. just a thought. He should be attractive to most of the top european clubs... Ya. Less than 20m for a player of his calibre is a steal. Though i hope he end up at spurs. Hehe. Gotze. Lamela. Min son. Eriksen. Alli would be awesome.... though alternating

Also why would he want to rotate there when he is more than certain to start here when fit? Next season's Pool's front 6 taking shape. They can only be stronger, more ready 2 years later. Make or break...who knows? He may get an extension...worth a gamble.

That means players from Tottenham, Leicester and Everton. ....just saying
