Bismarck Turbocharged March 7, 2016 Share March 7, 2016 Spurs almost got a dembele. Also moussa. From fulham. Maybe summer time get these 2 dembeles to form a trio of dembeles Nottingham forest and ipswich town. Classic nobodies but won the league in their own era. 80s and 60s. Blackburn dun even come close as they were big spenders at that time. Leicester have now joined the foray and if they do win. I believe this achivement overshadows ipswich n nottingham forest. Should be late 70s n 60s. Anyway I don't think so. Maybe in premier league history but no way it will overshadow what forest have achieved. Both forest and Ipswich won the league in their first season after getting promoted. And forest won the European cup the season after. Another team I can remember that won the league immediately after promotion to top flight is German club kasierlautern. ↡ Advertisement

Spring Moderator March 8, 2016 Share March 8, 2016 2 records set in last in last night's games. First time in club history, Liverpool came from a man and a goal down to win a match. I'm surprised at this statistic! Tks, interesting info!!

I've been following English football since 1972. Champions that year was Derby County n 2 years later was Leeds United. Seen Villa n Forest win the European cup n I really hanker over those days where it was more open n not $ conquering all. It may seem like I'm contradictory since I advocate spending in my many posts. But as I always say, we have to live with the times n since modern day is such, being a fan I would obviously want what is best for my team n if it means spending $ to get the best then so be it. It's the TV money which is spoiling English football but then again without TV, those of us in this part of the world will Nvr be able to get so much insight into EPL haiz......

Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic March 8, 2016 Author Share March 8, 2016 Vardy who has recently extended his contract with Leicester, reportedly had a £30m release clause inserted. Let's see who will pay it this summer. If only BR still the manager of Pool, he will splash $45 million pound on him above his $30 release clause ... Then BR will warm him on the bench that's what he is capable off ....
Atrecord Supersonic March 8, 2016 Share March 8, 2016 LvG: Mata's clean record would be considered by a more experienced referee Basically, LvG felt that Mata should not be sent off because he had a clean record. Ok, refs do take note If based on this argument, in theory no player will ever get the first red card. Then they won't get a repeat red card, obviously. Then can keep the red card in soccer museum liao…

Fooblack Supercharged March 8, 2016 Share March 8, 2016 Vardy who has recently extended his contract with Leicester, reportedly had a £30m release clause inserted. [Times] Let's see who will pay it this summer. Luke Shaw targets return to training in April and could play again this season [Telegraph] Good news for Man Utd fans just afraid Vardy will wind up the road of a one-season wonder. He is nearing 30 yr old so reaching best form of his career, but the downward slide in the early thirties are also quite prevalent for most strikers. just look at the likes of Torres.. Mahez seems a better buy. I do think he's more impt to Leceister than Vardy for this season's title charge, and more so in this final stretch whereby Vardy's goals have dried up significantly. For Luke Shaw, just hope that he has not gained more pounds during this lengthy absence... otherwise, his mgr will order more weight-loss program for him lol . Fooblack Supercharged March 8, 2016 Share March 8, 2016 one of the recent bright spot of the liverpool team is the form of Firmino. For the season, he has 8 goals and 7 assists already. Not bad for a false 9 or attacking midfielder. many pool fans, including myself, was questioning the wisdom of this macquee signing at the beginning part of the season whereby Firmino was drawing blanks and touches were quite poor. he's the most prolific goal-scorer in the EPL from the start of 2016, so, this says it all since he dun usually play as a striker too. Lol that time I think is off season and he went on an eating spree and came back with excess body mass for preseason. During rehab, I believe the club physio will take good care of him and keep him in good shape. I think he has been missing quite a lot of games since moving from Southampton. Hopefully his luck will change for the better after this injury.

I was able to keep faith because I have seen him playing for Hoffenheim and know what he is capable of. That's why from the start, i have been appealing to Pool fans to keep the faith and let him settle. I am willing to give him a season but I am seeing that he is picking up since the turning of the year. Trust me on this, what you are seeing now is not the real Firmino yet. His natural position is a 10 or as a support striker. His assist and goals scored number doesn't really surprise me at all. Next season we should see him at his best. :) Edited March 8, 2016 by Osprey23

Next season. :) i think so too. he is now showing plenty of quality in chalking up the goals and assists. in terms of general play, link up and penetration, he can only get better once he is more comfortable with the players around him and playing regularly around them. Gd thing Klopp is a strong believer in him too. that helps him to get game time to bed him in even more.

Gd thing Klopp is a strong believer in him too. that helps him to get game time to bed him in even more. Not forgetting that prior to arrival of Klopp, he was mismanaged (played out wide by BR - I almost died) and on-off with injuries. He needs to forge an understanding with a strike partner and so far none of them is nailed on to start under Klopp. One easy way out is to sign Volland this summer . If Hoffenheim get relegated, I heard he can be signed on the cheap due to a release clause.
Osprey23 Turbocharged March 8, 2016 Share March 8, 2016 Leicester certainly does as the monies compared to citech. Chelsit. Man utd. Many others. Modern spending vs traditional Personally, although I agree that the disparity in spending power has made it harder for Leicester to win the title, I would not say that they will outshine those clubs that made history with their achievement too. Tracing back, we have Sheffield Utd in 1898, Everton 1932, Spurs 1951, Ipswich 1962, Forest 1978 All of them are great teams in their own rights. Do they actually name a newly promoted side as title favourite before they start kicking the ball? I would have thought that they took everyone by surprise Edited March 8, 2016 by Osprey23 ↡ Advertisement
