Villa have a strong fan based. Even if the gulf is huge, under normal circumstances they should be able to come back. The smaller clubs do no have that support base unless they have a sugar daddy. Problem is villa is not a well run club at the moment. Top to bottom is in a mess.

Really depends on the level of meltdown when they go down imo. They really have to make a quick comeback. The longer they are out, the more difficult the task becomes.

Leeds I believe has strong following too but they are now also lingering in the lower division with little sign of recovery.

Hopefully they can turn it round soon.

Leeds is worse. They overspent previously and now paying for the price. Villa didn't. So at least on the management and playing side if they can sort that out, villa will be ok.

Ya situation entirely different but my point is they really cannot afford to be outside for too long as every season they missed out, the hurdle gets higher.

So like you say, hopefully they can regroup fast, sort out all the issues and make a strong push back to the EPL the following season.

You are right that Villa has to bounce back quick else they will end up like Leeds, Forest etc and with the ever increasing TV money, this disparity will grow till they can't get out of the hole which is the Championship or even lower Leagues. It's a downward spiral of no return if not addressed.

Read somewhere that Forest is the only European Champion that has ever gone down to the third tier of their domestic League. Frightening for sure!!

I think it is nothing new for villa. They have fallen all the way to the old 3rd division before. So it is not as if they have never go down before.

Quote from BBC

Jose Mourinho is not wanted at Manchester United by Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Alex Ferguson or David Gill, according to Samuel Luckhurst who is a journalist from the Manchester Evening News.

Jose Mourinho is the bookmakers’ favourite for the Old Trafford job, but apparently he isn't a man in demand.

"Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Alex Ferguson and even David Gill don’t appear to want Jose Mourinho to become the next Manchester United manager," he told 5 live Sport's Mark Chapman.

"There's an awful lot of cheerleading still going on for Ryan Giggs which a lot of Manchester United fans find baffling."

So we now know who are in the anti-JM camp.

At least villa has one European cup. Some clubs would die for having one. Chelsea already catch up with one, I wonder what the other London clubs feel about that.

great to have but unless Arsenal or Spurs sell their souls.......... hard to get the money to compete........

no problem..... sup sup water........ we have mertesacker [shocked]

Mertesacker won't help much. Barcelona don't cross high ball into the box. :)

Cech might be the hero

Seriously speaking, Gunners should be putting a Gabriel/Kos centreback partnership. The German is just not mobile enough to handle the MSN attack. They might also play 2 DM? Just to ensure protection? Trouble is only Coq is cut out for this role as Flamini is not there and Arteta is not a DM. This would be another reason why another quality DM would hv come in handy!!

My strategy is play defensive at home and more offensive away due to the away goals rule!!

My 2 cents.......

agree totally but gabriel is injuried... doubt he can make it... should see coq and ramsey in the middle..... sanchez and ox on flanks lead by giroud and ozil

gabriel will have been good partly due to his experience playing against barca

Agree. The strategy for Arsenal for this first leg is just 3 words: Park. The. Bus.

Go gung-ho will risk the tie being over after 90 min.

That's how we will approach the game but then, Wenger might have other ideas.

I read Gunners have lost on away goals in UCL for the past 3 seasons or so??

If true, they should be street wise by now but against Barca easy to say Park the Bus though I agree 100%.

Chelsea and Inter Milan has done it before both under JM who is undoubtedly master of defensive strategy. Park the Bus and counter attack with the speedy Ox and Sanchez and clinical finishing is the order of the day and it can be done albeit difficult, good luck Gunners and City as well!!!

Edited: Think Chelsea did this under di Matteo as well in the year they won the UCL!

Europe best U18 XI, according to Marca. Not sure how they select though.

Only 2 from EPL clubs but quite a number linked and may well be plying their trade in EPL soon

Grujic talks about his move to Liverpool

Very lively interview. Recommend to Pool fans. Spoke about the importance that phone call from Klopp made up his decision to join and the level of scouting Pool deployed amazed him.

is the coach or anyone from the club allow to call the player?

Or consent is already given by the club?
