Good choice, the previous GS300 is easily one of the most powerful car, v fun to drive.

Suggest get the facelift version, if not mistaken manufacture 2010 onwards

- nicer front chrome headlight

- signal lights on side mirror

- broader spokes rims

- more buttons interiorly, new more user friendly position

- more cushy leather seats with chrome trimmings

Better still get the Super luxury version - one of the key features is the wood steering wheel (cant remember the 3-4 more items/specs not available for standard version, if not mistaken ventilation seat, rear electric blinds).

If you r lucky there are a few that comes with sunroof. Another is the black Limited Edition (seats with red lining).

Our previous GS that we bought second hand had worn out shock absorbers (odometer >100 000 km), otherwise no mechanical issues/problems- pretty reliable. However, find that the front main beam HID lights not as bright (probably manufacture design).

These GS DVD mark levinson player can easily be tweaked (without any special module) to keep on playing (for passengers to view).

Bro,

You mentioned GS DVD can be tweaked to keep playing while on the move, can you show me the way?  My kids can't watch DVD once the car is on the move.  Thank you.

Yes, but not DIY, visit your car accessories shop for simple wiring mod which costs around $30 if I recalled correctly.

Mine done at Autotrend toa payoh many yrs, Boss is Mr Darren.

Note: Newer lexus need expensive module, also the memory seat will not work once on the move/D engaged...

cant afford GS la

Dont worry, GS rear seat space is cramped esp middle row, with minimal headroom too.

Try the rear seats on ES and Camry or even ALTIS to compare, in my opinion GS is the most cramped.

However, GS is fully specs and superior from Driver point of view, its the most powerful.

I think the profit margin from ES shouldn't be any problem to buy 1 free 1 ( only free OMV ) if selling from listing price about $226,000 VS OMV only $36000 ! End of the day still huge profit !

Very similar, both based on K-Platform. Avalon just have longer wheelbase than Camry. ES250 and Camry 2.5 even use the same engine...

if i am not wrong.. even NX is based on Rav4 platform.. this is usually the case for brand with sister brand... like audi and VW

Yes, it's true that NX uses similar platform to RAV4 and Harrier. Platform-sharing is used between mass-market and luxury as mechanical similarity that can be masked by styling, sound insulation, interior design and finishing etc. For those in the know, it can be felt if you drive both cars and compare them.

Autocar UK said the BentleyBentayga felt too much like a more expensive Audi Q7 (platform-mate) to justify the massive price premium.

In my post, I was referring to how similar the Avalon and Camry are as both are on K-Platform. But since ES250 is a rebadged Avalon and Avalon is a stretched Camry, ES250's underpinnings aren't very distinct from the Camry. Furthermore ES250 uses MacPherson struts front and rear like the Camry. ES250's chassis code is also XV60 and the current Camry is the XV50..

I did a calculation based on the omv and added taxes and fees. It works out to be about $159K inclusive of COE and RTX when you get the car. They throw in free 5 years warranty and service - based on estimated 10 services at say 1K each ( when things need replacement ) and factory insurance for parts after 3 years for ES can be about 7 to 8 K I think. ( That was what they offered me when my LS 460 turned 3 years old to extend the warranty - a few years ago. ) Nett of 176 K would be the actual cost. At 226 K they make 50 K per car about a 22 % profit.

Just a guestimation. I think the profit is even more.

Current ES no longer based on Camry, it is now based on the toyota Avalon, a different car.

but Enjin spec is same as Camry leh , I remember quite clearly when I went to see the ES250 2 years back;

Lexus SE tell me the same stoly that its on the Avalon platform

Still not convinced , I went next door to Toyota Camry and see the Camry (Lengkee one) and take photo of enjin is same leh and results and the SE from Toyota say the opposite; Lexus ES250  is same as Camry 2.5 enjin vice, Vice activity detected........ [:p] ;

Some more I remember the Camry rear seat can drop, Lexus cannot (only small arm rest side only can)

But I still got sold on to the ES250 :wub:  'cos of my sons insist  [sweatdrop]  ; Chilren got power one nowadays    :yuush:
