Hi, went to check out Sienta last week. Didn't test drive but did have a good look both inside out. The interior is definitely an improvement compared to the old model which is already not bad. However, exterior wise, just lack that punch, my personal opinion.

Mobillio external slightly better than Sienta but interior is a mile away considering both within the same price range.

It would be good for owners to share their experiences on how this car performs. At depreciation of $11K per year, it has to be worth every dollar man.

Hi Victor68,

Could you clarify which "interior is a mile away"? Which is inferior in your statement? Sienta? Mobillio? (Sorry my understanding is not that good)

The last time I visited Mobillio (early 2015), I was put off by the rear seats which flipped to the sides (left and right, 1 each) when in collapsed mode. Honda seems to have revised this part now..

My factors for choosing Sienta instead of Mobillio:

- sliding doors (good for kids, elderly, pregnant wife)

- better fuel consumption (20km/l vs 16 km/l)

What do you mean by "just lack that punch"?

hi Victor68,

I would have to agree to some extent that the new Sienta isn't looking fantastic in the exterior compartment. (At least for my own opinion). It will take some time to accept the looks of any new car, be it front, side or back profile of the car. Same for Mobilio.

Few reasons I choose Sienta over other MPV in the same category, i.e. Avanza, Mobilio etc.

1) Looking at the pricing, comparing Mobilio or even Avanza. Sorry I cannot swallow this Indo or Thai made for the same price I'm getting.

http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_pricing.php?CarCode=11652

2) I bought my Sienta Hybrid G w/Toyota Safety Sense (almost highest spec just w/o factory 16" rim) only at $120K and MIJ.

3) I was told my car OMV above 22K (to be confirmed).

4) For the hybrid i bought, it was led by Prius chief engineer Hiroshi Kayukawa, so I have faith in it [:p]

5) Probably I'm the only few lucky ones that had a chance to test drive the hybrid before I sign on the dotted line. (read my earlier post).

I happened to chance upon this. It looks like this car (Sienta) may get more popular soon, one article spotted a scooped car in Thailand. Suspecting in the future it might come out from the factory there to Singapore too via authorized channel - Borneo?

And i just did a count on number of PI marketing this car....it is 61 PI selling this Sienta! So you know where I'm coming from. It is going to become a bread and butter compact MPV which is even more cost effective against a MIT - Toyota Altis. The additional 2 seats at the back row might not suit super giant human being but it is definitely a good emergency seats for occasions.

Anyway you can search discussion earlier in this thread on what's the pro and cons of this new Sienta etc.

Do join the FB to get some more info on this car.

Hi, please note this is just my personal opinion only.

Could you clarify which "interior is a mile away"? Which is inferior in your statement? Sienta? Mobillio? - The Moblillio interior was bad, especially the dash board, gear and handbrake.

"just lack that punch"? - I feel the exterior or Sienta didn't have that saloon or sporty look. Neither is the Mobillio but it is slightly better as it resemble Jazz but longer.

If Sienta would have a nicer exterior and lower in price, it will be a winner in this class. I like the sliding door, clean dash board, innovative seat arrangement and mechanism.

BTW, I don't know how the hybrid looks and what is the different. Hybrid you mean elect/petrol?

For exterior "upgrades", you can consider body kits like what one bro pasted in the other Sienta thread - http://www.modellista.co.jp/product/sienta/ or http://toyota.jp/sienta/customize/trdsportivo/.

Hybrid looks exactly the same. It's powered by an electric and a petrol engine to achieve better fuel efficiency. Also, it seems that the electric motor generates higher torque which helps with the acceleration. There's a video in the FB group that shows the 0-150km/h acceleration of the hybrid model.

Victor68,

If you go do more research, a used 2010 Honda Freed is having $14.3K annual depreciation. In this aspect, i won't complaint about the new Sienta pricing being high. Just to add you can choose the lower grade X petrol model which is like 108K (guaranteed COE 2 bids, no top up and ready stock). Which will you choose?

After cevs rebate, sienta omv estimate ard the 5k range.

Ya, based on my calculation on the hybrid model I bought:

Price: $120.8k (price should be lower now)

OMV: $22k (based on what SE told me)

CEVS: $15k

ARF Payable: ($20k + ($2k * 1.4)) - $15k = $7.8k

PARF Rebate at the end: $7,8k * 0.5 = $3.9k

Depreciation: $120.8k - $3.9k / 10 = $11.69k / year

Assuming a petrol version:

Price: $115.8k (assume on a higher side)

OMV: $18k (being conservative)

CEVS: $10k

ARF Payable: $18k - $10k = $8k

PARF Rebate at the end: $8k * 0.5 = $4k

Depreciation: $115.8k - $4k / 10 = $11.18k / year

It's a 1.5l car and advertised fuel consumption of petrol and hybrid is 20km/l and 27km/l so the running cost is quite low,
