general differences:

Sienta PI

- JDM

- gear shaft on the dashboard panel

- foot brake

- generally cheaper if compare apple to apple, but PI uncertainty

Sienta BM

- made in Thailand

- rear ceiling fan blower (not aircon)

- gear shaft on the car floor

- handbrake

- generally more pricey if compare apple to apple, but AD reliability

list is definitely not exhaustive. i have not included the differences in the engine, and the slight differences in the exterior and interior looks...

as for PI issues, so far i have not experienced any... maybe other MCFers can advise.

you can also join the Sienta FB group to find out more before you decide whether to buy or not.

Nice summary. But some corrections needed. And updated with engine differences

Think we can keep this summary updated for anyone else that stumble upon this thread?

Sienta PI
- JDM
- gear shaft on the dashboard panel
- foot brake
- generally cheaper if compare apple to apple, but PI uncertainty
- newer engine (2NR-FKE - 1st released in 2015, updated design for better efficiency and fuel consumption)

Sienta BM
- made in Thailand Indonesia
- rear ceiling fan blower (not aircon) aircon
- gear shaft on the car floor
- handbrake
- generally more pricey if compare apple to apple, but AD reliability
- older engine (2NR-FE - 1st released in 2010)

* list is not exhaustive

* differences in the exterior and interior looks depends on the chosen grade and optional factory options: JDM (X, G) vs BM (Standard, Elegance)

Observation about aircon (maybe can append into summary too?)

PI JDM - strong middle aircon blower, which can reach 3rd row (when properly adjusted)

AD Indo - weaker middle blower. rear aircon taps cold pipe from main aircon.

but it does help that there is blower in the middle. cos even if aircon fm front is strong, it will take longer for rear seats to feel. cos now my car has blower in 2nd n 3rd row....which is very much appreciated by my family.

I can’t add in to the list as they are all in codes to me and I am afraid of spoiling the list.

Let me add the differences to take note in both versions

The engine of the PI version shares with the Corolla Axio but the engine of the official version is shared with the Vios.

This means that the PI version may face difficulty in finding parts and may have to get parts from Japan in its later years as only Japanese domestic models use the 2NR-FKE engine as opposed to the 2NR-FE engine used in the new Vios which can be found more easily in this region.

Note that compression ratio of official version is 11.5:1 whereas the PI version is at 13.5:1.

Official version comes with front(passenger, driver) and knee airbag while pi comes with only front as standard(curtain and side are options in Japan that is about ¥40,000 to ¥54,000 shown in Toyota Japan’s website that no pi brings in)

Recommendation based on what? Price? Needs? Your question is too open ended. Lol

If your feasibility is based on bodykit.. then get C-HR.. much more options for you to choose from.. :p

you can always install aftermarket rear ceiling fan blower... got to check with BM or PI whether it will void the warranty, although i dont think so...

there are many options for Sienta bodykits, you can search online.

may i know what are your considerations for deciding the feasibility for purchasing the Sienta? is bodykit one of the key considerations?

reasons why i choose Sienta:

- 7-seater required for my 2 carseats

- reasonable price, in fact the cheapest 7-seater in the market

- Toyota reliability
