Hope someone can answer my question. Singtel is having a recontact promotion giving a free Mesh WiFi 6 extender.

Currently I have an old Singtel router (AC Plus or something like that) plus a few non-mesh extender. Do I need to get a new Mesh router? Would the Mesh extender alone make any difference to the connections? or it is not worth the effort to add the Mesh extender?

free stuff never good...get an indpt one...

AX series that support Wifi6

In short. No.

U need your router and your nodes all to be mesh routers to enjoy a benefit.

for any significant upgrade from an AC router system, u probably should look at a 3 node AX5400 system and above.

Mesh just has a better hand off to each node when u move around in the home.

I don't bother to re-contract.

My contract with Starhub expires long ago.  Just continue without a contract.

If there is no change to the price that you are paying, then dont bother to re-contract. Previously my plan will become more ex after the end of the contract, so no choice but need to re-contract to continue the promo price.

they only give one node right? if need more need to top up right? like starhub.

My suggestion is to buy your own, tp link, orbi etc. And carousell the unit for other users looking for more nodes.

i got the nokia one from SH but it does not work on ST network, so really no point keeping.

Got some savings (with copper land line), plus free Prime for 12 months. I have been out of contract for several months already. So decided to recontract this time.

XT series should be good. Mine is the AX92 which is known to be subpar. Should have looked through the reviews more before I bought.

My friend is using XT. but his place is easy lah. Loft and no corners etc.

TP-link products are good, been using them for many years. Easy to set up and use.

From mobile WIFI to router to Wifi extender…
