Been using my V9 for coming to 2 years plus.

My initial encounter when I got it back then was cabling issue after several troubleshooting and it works fine until now.

I noticed that for the past 2 weeks during my drive, the camera will auto reboot for no apparent reason though the setting is set to reboot at 3.00am daily.

Anyone encountered such similar issue as myself for a cam that has been used for over 2 year or more?

Thanks.

did you hear any message when the camera reboot itself? Also, please review your camera recording or do a live view and see whether your rear camera is working fine.

Yes.

It says "Cam will shutdown".

After a 10 over seconds or so, it says "Cam restarting"

I kind of sick of all these issues of cabling and cam issue, and thinking of purchasing apps as a replacement which costs less than $10 if I opted for ads free.

I am using a extra phone in my car as GPS.

Anyone tried any of these apps for a long time already? I guess in an accident, only the front footage is important.

DailyRoads Voyager seems to be a good choice.

Instead of spending $400 over for a cam that is not reliable after 2 years? ........ apps is only $10 and may do a better job.

Please review your camera recording or use your hp to connect to it to check the rear camera. Most likely your rear camera got issue which maybe the result of the damage wire connecting the rear camera to the front camera. Do you park your car in the open car park under the hot sun often?

Reviewed the footage and it is fine.

When I got this V9 2 years ago, there is a cabling issue which was being announced on its website. After changing the cable, it runs well until now.

I parked my car in open area.

Car dash should be made to operated under the sun. If a car dash cam cannot be operated under the sun, then I will considered it as fragile and lousy. Dash cam should served our needs and not because it is vulnerable that we have to be its slave to suit it.

Thanks for your quick response, really appreciate.  [laugh]

(I had a Garmin GPS, under the hot sun and still robust for a good 6 years. Now I don't use it anymore but still in good condition.)

Actually the cam electronics are fragile. Under the hot sun everyday, no cam can survive the heat. At most some of them will last maybe 3 yrs at best Edited by RogerNg_185295

How old is your car batt? Already more than 1.5 years since last replacement?

Check your LBP setting.

For my setting

power on is 12.9V ( 12.4v - 13.3V   , check yoyr setting . it is very high at 13.3V)

off is 12.3V (Can go as low to 11.3V which is not recommended !)

Rear Cam is working fine

post-53725-0-10810000-1524448450_thumb.jpg

Realised the front cam has been like that since 12 Apr 2018, car battery is healthy, didn't change any settings, tried reformatting the memory card but same problem. Car is always parked under shelter at home and office, have been using this V7 for 3 years already.

Appreciate if anyone is able to advise. I have also sent an email to iRoad Korea for their advice.

Cheers!

I decided to buy the Hella DR820 advertised here and found out from the seller that it is basically the iRoad V9S2 (same factory & exact same thing, just different brands printed) and selling for $399. Just fitted it... very nice... no GPS but got wifi... looks good... thanks to Gary from Eclipse Auto at Kaki Bukit... the phone app is easy to use and very intuitive... comes with a Hella branded 16GB micro SD memory card. Wifi dongle included but not the GPS so all the ADAS features not available... but I don't really need those... just needed a tough set that can withstand parking in the sun for the whole work week... let's see how it goes... will report back here... for your consideration if you're looking at the iRoad V9S2.

Yup ADAS can be irritating. Most importantly, reliance too much on technology ends up losing your judgment on the road.

Anyway I plugged back the old GPS module that came with my old dash camera but it was not recognized by the new dash camera... a pity but I probably won't buy the GPS module... not worth it...

[:p] I finally caved in and bought the Iroad TX9 at $530 including installation.

Initially was considering TX9 and X9 due to the difference only in front camera resolution and touch screen option...decided to get the TX9 as my previous dashcam also have touch screen which lasted me a good 4.5 years.

Thanks to the kind discussion here...I somewhat mange to cut down on the number of recording clips during parking mode.

I set the stop recording to '2 seconds'...the shop set for me to 30 seconds [smash]

Also set the parking sensitivity in the Iroad app to 'Lower" which is the lowest setting I think.

So far trying to monitor on the number of clips during parking mode as only having this cam for 2 days.

Connecting to Wifi is a breeze and retrieving clips are also made easy.

My only minor quirk is that the rear camera is not that great for night recording...other than that...everything is pretty good as I think this is the best bang for buck camera at the moment.

What sound are you referring to?

If it is the recorded sounds from the camera's microphone, you can disable it in the Setting and it won't record your conversation or whatever inside your cabin.

The camera will prompt about the parking mode on after I have parked my car, unless you have disable this features in the setting. Occasionally, I will check the recorded videos of my trips and parking to ensure the camera is working fine.

You can tweak more setting if you remove the MircoSD and view the contents on your PC via the iRoad software.

I'd leave audio recording on.

After all, I can always tell the iRoad Viewer program (not sure about the mobile apps but I suspect they have this option too) to omit the audio track when I export the clip.

Audio recording can serves as additional evidence in case the video did not capture the event, such as when someone bumped into and made a loud noise damaging the side of your car, which your camera cannot capture until the culprit walking away in the camera's field of view.

Audio also proves to the relevant parties that you sounded your car horn as a warning before an accident and you weren't day dreaming.

Do take note, however, the video clip has a microphone icon which will show whether recording is disabled.  That icon might work against you if you exported without sound (coz you were "day dreaming.")

What sound are you referring to?

If you're refering to all the beeps and voice prompts...

Sadly you can't turn them off.   A Corvit staff insisted the option is in the Android app (I use iPhone) but it ws no where to be found in his Andriod phone.  It's not in the macOS desktop viewer too.

6th Gear

Have been using my $40 hyundai full hd dashcam I bought from a petrol kiosk  for years with no issue. Used it on one occasion with a taxi that rammed into the rear and the evidence was clear. Moral of the story is not to overspend on a dashcam coz a cheap one will work just as fine.

The $40 car cam includes a rear cam? Doesn't matter because I bet you don't even need any video recording to claim whoever rear-ended your car.

We want a car cam to always show the correct date and time (lol,) records in compact .mp4 file format (no jpg movie or ".avi" format please,) continues to be a watch dog while our cars are parked (why shouldn it?), smart enough to never need reformatting the sdcard, etc etc etc.

The real moral of the story is we value our insurance premium enough to invest in a good car cam.

You don't see a big picture like then the rest of us.
