do you guys leave the wifi dongle inserted all the time or plug in only when you want to check video?

Previously, there were some suggestion about removing it due to the heat generated and the camera was too hot, especially parked under the sun.

I have it plugged in all the time and the heat is bearable so far when I touched the camera.

Recently, my PC antivirus detected 2 suspicious files after I installed the viewer software. The detected files are wmproof.exe and Watermark Proofer.Ink and both are originated from the iRoad viewer software.

Anyone has a similar experience with these 2 files?

I also buy GPS antenna separately.. Used the collision warning for few hours only and I off it already. The warning is super irreating that even if I put in the lowest setting, it still will sound whenever I am not that close to the car in front or car cut in my lane but is not close. Keep ding ding. But nevermind now my car cam has speed recorded in the car which is actually a good thing.

I probably should get an Android phone.  The iPhone app does not let me adjust the volume level of the buzzer, and it is probably at its lowest level by default, which is really soft.

Hi bro, mine is v9s2 any way the reduce the event detection? Seems like detecting the whole nights...if un tick motion, means it will continuously recording?

That's right.  I mistakenly un-ticked it and my sdcard fills up way too quickly (not to mention excessive battery drainage.)  *&^%$#@!

I leave the wifi dongle inserted into my camera all the time. What I do is just to "forget network" on my phone after I have finished using the app so that it will not keep auto-connecting to my phone whenever I enter the car. Just need to manually connect to the camera wifi again whenever I need to use the app.

If you use an iPhone, disable the "Auto-Join" option instead of "Forget This Network."

This way you do not need to re-setup the Wi-Fi connection each time you want to access the camera, but simply select the cam's wifi from the list to connect to it manually.

Ahh... Good tip... Thanks!

and i want to check around users of q7/9, do you guys switch the front cam led indication light off (during parking mode)? the led light seems too big and bright and somehow is creating unnecessary attention.

I don't.  The whole point is to scare people off.  I will behave if I noticed a parked car has a car cam in parking mode, ya know.

I do find it way too wide and bright too.

I wish there's an option for a slightly more discreet warning, such as a simple blink once a second, but increases to quick sessions when the cam detects motion, which should serves its purpose but not so Hollywood!  As it is, it reminds me of the hit 1980s TV show Knight Rider.

I wanted to reduce battery drainage a little and removed it for a while.

I eventually gave up as I could not find any significant savings.

However, it's a pain to remove/insert the dongle, having to make sure the power cable is un-plugged.  Worse, each time I re-insert the dongle and re-connect power, the GPS module takes 15 minutes (or so) to initialise!  By then I have reached my destination!   :a-confused: All because I wanted to save some battery power?  No thank you.

Hey... you know there's a guide line?  Mine was off by quite a bit.  After I re-aligned it properly, the detection became much more accurate and there's less ding ding dong dong now.  Try changing your alignment.

Don't know if the led got drain a lot of power or not.....i notice if park besides trees, the moments from the leafs/ branches will also trigger the sensor.

Probably not since LED is well known for its energy efficiency.

I was quite dumb founded when I was reviewing a recorded parking clip.  There was absolutely no motion, so it puzzles me what triggered the recording.  It wasn't until I review the next clip I realised it was triggered by a neighbouring car which has started up and the headlight came on!  The headlight causes the cam to detects a change and it started recording.  Fortunately the car move off quickly or precious sd card storage space is wasted.

lol

I do not know if such high sensitivity is a good or bad thing.  I probably should upgrade to 128GB sd card, so that important clips are not overwritten too soon.

I already reduce the sensitivity of my v9 to the lowest but yet it still recording.

Now the parking mode can only last approximately 11 hours, car only 6 mths old.  [:|]

My guess is most of my trips are relatively short and therefore did not charge up the battery.

I'm also a low mileage owner.  Present car managed to clock an impressive 8K+ after almost a year.  Previous 8 year old car clocked just 35K+.  lol

That's why I set my Q9 to a power-off at the highest available threshold, which is 12.1V (or 12.3V?)  VW gave me a new EFB battery recently, and it's good for about 3 days of parked recording.

Maybe you want to invest in a EFB battery or even a AGM if parking mode is important to you?

What do you guys have your off camera battery voltage during parking mode? Just changed mine to 11.7 and the camera seems to last the night.

Are you tapping to your main car battery? If yes, then best to increase to 12.3V or your car might not start in the morning!

Thanks... btw do u guys face any issues with iroad cam? I heard that iroad cam got reliability issue..

The most common issue is the camera became blurry after some time parking in the open. I already changed 2nd time. I give up, most likely next year change to other brand already.
