Guys, how to format  Memory Card for IRoad V7?

Is it necessary to do so regularly?

Thanks in advance.

Hi. Just RIGHT CLICK on the memory card. I usually choose QUICK FORMAT as it is faster.

iRoad doesn't manufacture memory card. In the market, we seldom or rarely format our memory card. So it is not necessary to format memory card on a regular basis.

I have been using V9 since last December. Recently during March my new battery got drained overnight but I couldn't find the fault. It happened 2more times after that. I have replace a temporary battery with the battery workshop to monitor it. Yesterday night it seems that the car battery voltage is quite low as it crank longer to start the car. I saw through the forum it might be connector fault or perhaps the fuse cable fault?

bro, this happened to me also. I using V7.

should you find the cause or solution, please and appreciate if you can share with me.

thanks.

Twincharged

Should seriously consider installing a switch. Then no unnecessary draining of battery when parked at places that do not require the cameras.

I might be going to workshop soon and ask the person to check the fuse cable and connector to ensure its not the camera fault.

In the iroad setting you can actually set the camera to off once the battery reaches a certain level of voltage like for example 12.3v.

This way will prevent the battery from draining.

I've been using the v9 for almost a year now and it's been working great. Once every 3 months I will alternate my memory card.

And once a week will review the footage to ensure that the camera is working both front and back.

I've been using the v9 for a year also so far no issue. Only thing is the standard comes with 16gb which is not enuf. Any idea what type of sd card is ok to use besides the iroad ones. Went to check out the Samsung Pro Class 10 but got 2 version one has u3 and the other does not. I know we need MLC type of sd card but normally the sd card does not label if it is MLC or TLC. Any advice?

Extract:

Single-level cell (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLC) Flash memory are similar in their design.

MLC Flash devices cost less and allow for higher storage density.

SLC Flash devices provide faster write performance and greater reliability, even at temperatures above the operating range of MLC Flash devices.

These factors make SLC Flash a good fit in embedded systems, while MLC flash makes it possible to create affordable mobile devices with large amounts of data storage.

In order to select the right Flash memory for an application, it is important to analyze the how it will be used.

For example, product developers integrating memory into a portable barcode reader will most likely need SLC Flash since performance and durability are important.

On the other hand, a company building a portable media player will need the low cost and high density of MLC to price their device competitively.

SLC Flash is used in commercial and industrial applications that require high performance and long-term reliability.

Some applications include industrial grade Compact Flash cards or Solid State Drives (SSDs).

MLC Flash is used in consumer applications that do not require long term reliability such as consumer grade USB Flash drives, portable media players, and Compact Flash cards.

The read speeds between SLC and MLC are comparable. Reading the level of the Flash cell compares the threshold voltage using a voltage comparator. Thus, the architecture change does not affect sensing.

In general, the read speeds of Flash are determined by which controller is used.

The endurance of SLC Flash is 10x more than MLC Flash.

The endurance of MLC Flash decreases due to enhanced degradation of the substrate.

This is a main reason why SLC Flash is considered industrial grade Flash and MLC Flash is considered consumer grade Flash.

Higher temperatures cause more leakage in the cells. Combined with the increased sensitivity required to differentiate between the levels, this leakage will cause the sensors to read the wrong level.

As a result, the operating temperature of MLC spans only the commercial range.

Leakage is not significant in SLC Flash and thus, it can operate in an industrial temperature range.

Then, it is important to evaluate what type of Flash memory your system needs.

If performance and durability are essential for your system, SLC Flash incorporated.

If low cost and high density are essential, MLC Flash is the right choice.

The high-performance MLC technology with three bits per cell, is commonly referred to as Triple Level Cell (TLC), which uses eight states.

According to the above website,...

Storage medium Micro SD 4GB ~ 64GB (recommended type MLC Class10)

Maybe with this info,.. you can check with any IT store if they carry such sd card specification.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bros for the info. Just wondering why don't they recom SLC type since it is more endurable?

Memory cards are well suited for vehicle applications. They are resistant to shock, can weather temperature extremes and are waterproof. The HEVM memory cards operate at Class 10 speeds, which is sufficient for the majority of video applications. The HEVM cards have a two-year warranty and are available for $84.99 and $149.99 for the 32 GB and 64 GB capacity points, respectively. HEVM cards will initially only be available through the SanDisk website for U.S. customers.

PROVEN TOUGH IN EXTREME CONDITIONS
Proven to operate in temperatures from-25C to +85C2. SanDisk High Endurance Video Monitoring Cards work in all weather, from desert heat to winter cold. And it’s rigorously tested and proven to stand up to shock, water and x-rays2 to give you the durability you need.

Waah,... so, Thinkware vs Blackvue vs iRoad.

Which has a reasonable 2 channel (front and back) camera?

Am looking for something below $500.

I heard Blackvue will be coming out with a no frills 2 channel soon.

Hi most car cam can only use 32G memory card. Any way to use a bigger capacity memory card so that can record more videos?

Iroad V9 can support up to 64GB memory card. Just buy a decent sandisk class 10 memory card will do. My memory card have been running for more than half a year and doing fine (: there's PC show now so you can purchase it over there
