I have been using V7 since 2014 Sitex, and V9 since 2015 ITShow... So far no issue and even there is once I can't connect to my phone, was advised by IRoad immediately without any issue. So for me, it's iRoad all the way. Have not use Thinkware or Blackvue, so can't comment but I think all of us iRoad users were kept away from using them are their pricing... Super expensive!

Yes. Thinkware is expensive for the same range, about $150 more then. Black Vue was nor consider during that time as some people was commented that te wi fi dongle was built in and overheating is an issue.

I installed V9 on 19 Nov 2015.   No problems encountered, until sometime in Jan 2016, I started having this message:

"The camera disconnected. Shut down the system."

Initially, it was infrequent, like once a day.  Then it became very frequent.  I got in touch with my installer.  He said that this was due to a faulty cable (coaxial cable) connecting the front camera to the rear camera.  Took him about 20 minutes to change it to a new cable.  No charge, as the unit is still under warranty.

After the change, I am glad that I don't hear the message anymore.

Other than this, the V9 has been working fine.  Touchwood so far.

By the way, I have never re-format the SD card periodically, as recommended by iRoad.  Is it necessary?

I heard from the installer whom I got my v9 from that there was some problems and the people at iroad found that the problem lies with the cable between front and rear camera.

As such newer batches now have a different cable.

So hopefully, my installer put in the newer cable, if not, the old problem will re-surface again after a few months...

As far as my selling expriences, thinkware is quite nice and black vue is also nice.

Sounds strange but, chinese products also are not bad. IROAD is similar chinese quality.

So, if you can afford to buy those think ware or black vue is fine, and you dont wanna pay a lot then buy cheap chinese one and change every year. It is also practical. Iroad doesnt last for a long time especialy front camera heat, wifi dongle melting, sd card faulty.

No blackvue for me anymore, overheat issue, GPS time and date went bonker..etc etc.

Thinkware is super super expensive !!

Is there any way to differentiate between old and new cable? Thank.

The replaced cable that my installer used looks exactly the same as the old one.  As long as the problem is solved, I will live with it.  Just hope that it does not come back again in a few month's time.

Just curious, why do you change your camera after 1 year?

I upgraded to V9 bcos of the full hd feature. And during the pre launch sale it was selling at a very reasonable price... $250.

I was fortunate to be able to get associate with iRoad during their roadshow cos i bought their V7 at $199 only.

So far, I parked under the sun, no issue with camera. Will it cause the life span of the device to shorten under hot sun? Thank.

My Blackvue 650 with Celllink B has given no issues at all over the two cars I've installed the setup in. No overheating issues (but I park under shelter almost all the time). Don't use power magic pro, it's practically worthless in modern cars like the BMW, it'll still mess up the car battery.

With regard to iRoad, no experience, but I'm tempted to install it on another car based on the glowing testimonials here. One big advantage is 1080p front and rear (Blackvue 650 is 720p rear). I do have a question about the video files - I heard the format is something special, and needs conversion to be playable on a laptop, is that true? The Blackvue records simple mp4, and this is highly convenient.

Ic. Thanks for sharing.

Since install b4, is the price i state expensive?

One more question, why the need for rear cam since rear ended confirn win claim, right?

Did any of get the side cams to see scratching culprits?

Think best to install one 360 all round view cam on top of car roof. Confirm no horse run. Haha. Pardon my jokes.
