Bluemint 2nd Gear January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 This is what happens when I request to relocate my rear cam. Sianzzz... [photos removed] Not sure if Rikecool can do anything to remedy this. Thanks for the warning. I've been wanting to move my rear cam up an inch, but my installer refused to do it. Now I see why!!
hyperdrive 1st Gear January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 (edited) I have followed this method to relocate my dash cams. Just take time and patience. For stubborn sticky residues, just "soak" it with isopropyl alcohol for a little while and it should rub off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1bOM8IJOfI I use the red Scotch permanent clear mounting tape to remount the dash cams. Hence, I was always doubt this parking mode when it shutdown upon hitting certain voltage. Theoretically, it shouldn't drain off the battery if you were to left your car for 4 to 5 days. Kopites Supersonic January 24, 2018 Share January 24, 2018 Mine iroad v7 everyday without fail reboot at 6.50p. Maybe plus minus one two minutes off. Every 5/6 hrs it will shut down. Auto reboot everytime I start the car. So far so good. Finger cross. My setting was done by the shop. Don't dare to touch the setting again after my last ordeal.

Bluemint 2nd Gear January 25, 2018 Share January 25, 2018 For stop-start equipped car, setting it below high 12v means your car cam is likely to turn itself off at traffic light when the alternator stop working. :-( [Correcting above statement] Sorry but above is not true. As long as there is power supplied to the ACC cable, the Q9 knows it should continue to operate. That means for start-stop equipped cars, having the engine temporarily stopped at traffic light will not turn off the cam even even though the stopped voltage is lower then the set minimum voltage. Well, at least for the iRoad in my car. I have set my minimum to 12.3V but at traffic light with the engine off the voltage often drops to only 12.2V but the cam continues to operate. Parked, with ignition off, the cam will shut down at 12.3V.

Leo72 6th Gear January 25, 2018 Share January 25, 2018 (edited) I am using t10 and considering to install a power bank so that the cam can continue recording after switch off the engine. is there anyone using power bank? Please install those power pack from a good known source which can withstand the heat in the car when park under hot sun else you may end up burning your car. For example you can consider the power pack from Iroad or cellink. Don't just buy those normal power bank from TB or Qoo as they're not tested to withstand the high temperature in the car under hot sun. Actually it's the type of battery cells that are used in the power bank that's important. Edited January 25, 2018 by Leo72

hyperdrive 1st Gear January 25, 2018 Share January 25, 2018 Iroad powerbank taps the fuse box. There is http://www.blackvue.com.sg/cellink-b-battery.html which has the option to plug into cigar jack. Not sure how relay comes into play though.

I may need to check with them on the circuit diagram.

I may need to check with them on the circuit diagram. Taping fuse box with piggy back fuse when done properly should be safe as that's one the methods recommended by most dash cam makers. For added safety for the battery pack to fuse box connection, you can change the 20A fuse in the provided iroad piggyback fuse holder to 10A This link has detailed information on how to add a circuit to your car. There are more circuit diagrams at step 3 > "Show All 11 Items" there. Below videos show the practical side of tapping fuse box. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b9CvUMcNQo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8omZ545Cw1U Try not to splice or tap any existing wires if you're really concerned about warranty. The safest is to get those battery pack charged by cigar jack though. Edited January 25, 2018 by hyperdrive ↡ Advertisement
