Aacor Neutral Newbie December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 Hi, is there a separate SD card at the rear camera for iroad V9 or both front and rear uses the same SD card located at the front camera? Thanks ↡ Advertisement
Atrecord Supersonic December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 I just spent the last week looking through the many pages of this thread... Very informative. I renewed AA membership and got a V9. Will be going down to an installer next week on first day of school, when i'll be taking leave. Does any of the experienced bros here have any suggestions or advice on what to take note of before, during and after the installation, to ensure that the cam will be working well and correctly, and without any ill effects on the car, esp. the car batt? I'm using an Android phone. Oh, is there a need to do any settings/changes to the cam before it is installed in the car? And if so, can I do it now or need it to be up and running first? The installer recommended by AA charges $60. Is that expensive? Thanks in advance.
raymonnnn 1st Gear December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 Any idea how high the memory card can go for the AEV model? It can support up to 64GB too.

The installer recommended by AA charges $60. Is that expensive? Thanks in advance. I'm using the old V9 model. Things to take note is just you have to do some settings to the cam after you install it. You can ask the installer for the recommended setting. Last time I install I paid $50 for installation so $60 should be okay unless you want freelancer to help you install. Also you can connect to the camera straight while the installer is installing the camera so that you can check if the angle and position is okay for the front and rear cam. Car battery wise there's isn't much ill effect as I have been using it 1year+ and changed from a car to another but the car battery is still good. My old V9 rear cam start to become blurry now especially during night time. I'm not sure what happen so you should monitor the camera once a month or something to ensure it's working properly. App wise it still work pretty good and I stopped updating the firmware and app of my camera because I bought it from South Korea straight last year and they have since locked Korea domestic model to be used overseas and disabled the wifi app function. New V9 model should be much better with the night vision feature and etc so don't worry and just enjoy.

I was thinking of whether to leave the car with the installer and I just pick up the car later. Maybe it's better idea to stay around and see how it's done, and ask questions at the same time. Just hope he's patient and helpful.
DeanZh Clutched January 2, 2017 Share January 2, 2017 I realised that the default voltage to power on is 13.1v. recently after apps fw upgrade, I can't adjust the power on voltage to 12.7v or 12.4v. So everytime when I start my car, it will have the "restart the sstem to protect the battery of car"msg... sibei annoying... Mine is the older v9, blue LED lights... Anyone faces the same issue? Any work around? So far the only way is to do the setting via PC and don't connect the apps to the cam so that the setting by PC (restart at 12.4v) will not get over-ridden... :( Seem like upgrading the firmware is not a good idea. From what I read in this thread, many had problems after upgrading.
DeanZh Clutched January 2, 2017 Share January 2, 2017 Yeah. Finally got it resolved. I am using Samsung EVO PLUS 64GB (red colour). The normal EVO (Orange colour) might not work. 1) Must format the Samsung Evo+ card with Iroad software. 2) Don't try to format using Fat32 system, it won't work. How do you get the iRoad software? Ladykillerz 4th Gear January 2, 2017 Share January 2, 2017 Some people say actually rear camera more important than front camera. I would say it's best to have both judging by the way people are driving on the road these-days. Leave no areas to be disputed. You say until like this. Then I think I need to install left, right, up and down too. Total six cams. I know Christmas is over but I don't mind if you buy for me. I need another four cams only. Lunloon Neutral Newbie January 3, 2017 Share January 3, 2017 Did anyone had this issue when you start the car, voltage is fine (about 12V) and the system says "Restart the system to protect the car battery"
Atrecord Supersonic January 3, 2017 Share January 3, 2017 iRoad app or software? if the app, can download from Play Store for Android. I just downloaded today. I went to install my V9 too. The installer after hearing my concern about car batt, measured my batt, and told me the ohm is very high (is it the resistance?), and said that it's not easy to charge my batt full, so there's danger that the cam might cause my car batt to not be able to start after maybe 2 days don't drive... This was after my batt died after 4 days during my recent vacation. Had asked my bro-in-law to help to start it every few days. Second time went after 4 days only, gone flat... So the installer suggested - and i agreed - to change the cabling so that it will record only when engine is running, and will stop recording when engine cut-off... Think maybe if i change batt to a better/good one, will go back to him to change the cabling to enable parking mode too. BTW, what's all the lane departure warning, etc.? How they work huh? I forgot to ask the installer... How do you get the iRoad software? Does anyone know which is the best deal to get a 64Gb microSD card that can be used for the V9? Don't want too expensive, but definitely want it to work well and is heat resistant lor... I have samsung Evo orange type, but understand that it doesn't work, right? Tks. raymonnnn 1st Gear January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 Did anyone had this issue when you start the car, voltage is fine (about 12V) and the system says "Restart the system to protect the car battery"I believe it's normal cause I heard it everyday when I start my car. My battery is already 3years old+ since 2013. So I presume the battery is quite weak as my camera can only record 9hrs after I stop driving. Perhaps I'll squeeze every juice out of the battery till I have difficulty starting my car then I'll change.

So now when it change the message i think something is wrong Some more OPC, and my cutoff voltage at 12.3V. Maybe will change to cut when engine cut. If only can set number of hours to record + voltage cut off

If only can set number of hours to record + voltage cut off It say "Restart the system to protect the battery" because your camera shut down before you start driving again. In this case, when you start your engine and the camera restart, it will say that sentence. Don't worry bro, it's normal like that I said previously. Lunloon Neutral Newbie January 5, 2017 Share January 5, 2017 (edited) It say "Restart the system to protect the battery" because your camera shut down before you start driving again. In this case, when you start your engine and the camera restart, it will say that sentence. Don't worry bro, it's normal like that I said previously. Similarly, what i said previously was what usually happened. The camera always shut down before I start driving cos OPC. Recording ends about Wednesday from Sunday and when I start the car on Sat it said what I said. That's why it's changed now. ALso, I do not understand if I have to restart it, or it's been restarted itself. Nothing in the manual. Don't even know if it starts recording, so I unplug and replug. PITA. dcb Turbocharged January 7, 2017 Share January 7, 2017 Recently my V9 constantly restarts to protect the car battery of the car whenever I start the car. It can be parked for hours or even 5mins. Any idea whether is it the car cam or the battery is faulty? ↡ Advertisement
