You are lucky. My daughter at 2 months old had fever, probably infected by me. Went into KKH, did sponging, admitted for 3 days to drip antibiotics as precaution, while blood tests were done to check for bacteria infection.

And the price? For 3 days' stay at B2+ ward, it was $1.9k after subsidies!

no shield plan cover?

no shield plan cover?

2 months, some insurers don't take in i think

I think u need to be at least 2 months old before some insurers take u in for hospitalisation plan...

Only if u buy prenatal insurance, then they guarantee coverage from birth.

$ is secondary or even the least concern as long as our children get well :)

Hope TS's child gets well soon :)

Actually fever is normal for infants and young children. Of course, the concern is always complications that's why they let you do urine test, blood test. But in most cases, just panadol to suppress the fever that's all and let the human body do the rest. It is parts and parcel of growing up and developing own anti-bodies.

I think most of us THINK like that ... but when you see you own flesh and blood wringing in pain and unable to express himself, you would wish you could take his place instead.

Aviva's medishield (myshield) plan has free insurance coverage for kids if both parents are under their plan (only certain plans).

Gotta check if it starts from birth or not.

just curious bro

how long did you have to wait or queue to see the doctor?

last night brought my 6mth old to KKH at around 10pm + ... high fever 39.6 !!

anyway, he has got better this morning.

just in case, for everyone's info, KKH emergency center is flat fee of $100. including general medicine.

my son did a blood test and urine test and was seen by two different Drs for both tests. all tests came back ok and we were given 2 bottles of panadol solution.

btw, carpark is $2.20 per entry after 6pm ... was there until about 12:30am ... coz waiting for him to pass urine for tests.

If high fever at night, best and cheapest is still go KKH.

If you go clinic, it is not cheap either. And worse, cannot do anything much.....

Just take the slight expensive way.... take a cab or drive there and pay $100 instead of spending at least $60-70 at the clinic and still have to head down to KKH for further action.

no shield plan cover?

Have. But bought without deductible and co-insurance cover. And deductible for Class B2 I think is $2000. So shield plan didn't pay a single cent.

actually not true.. once u have birthcert then can apply le.. plus it takes time to get such plan approved due to cpf deduction approval.. can apply first then submit birth cert later..

iirc, avivashield allows kids (up to a certain limit + certain age) to be auto covered if both parents have shield plans under aviva..

my personal take, if u can afford it, get shield plans that cover up to A1 when your child is sick. Especially the young ones.

No joke man from my experience. My wife had to carry or hug my girl about for 2-3 days.

I took the Private hospital top-tier plan, but did not add rider. Seriously thinking about adding the rider, so that in the event of another hospitalization, I can go back to the hospital where my girl's PD is based.

I took assist rider from NTUC. u pay only 10% of the co-deductible.
Cheaper than riders that cover the full amount.

Well u can always buy it then downgrade when she's older :)

Don't think it's very expensive at their age anyway.
