Donald Trump US President: The next 4 years

My take away from this election... THIS IS TRUE DEMOCRACY... regardless of what he may or may not have / does or will not do, the people of America had voiced out their unhappiness with the current administrations... but the ugly side is that Donald Trump and team had proven once again that populist policies WILL WIN the day, people don't care about the greater good, everyone for themselves. Anyone who can protect their interest WILL GET their votes.

Whether Trump will execute and implement his pre-elections "promise" is yet to be seen as he will only takes office on 20 Jan 2017. Similar a lot of "promises" were made and any of them had came through for us?   [lipsrsealed]

Bad ones yes but good ones ermmmm... no comments :ninja:

Why is so many people saying he would be a bad president from the POV of outsiders?

As the POTUS..  it is his job to take care of his citizens..  u think average americans give a rat's arse abt SCS conflict?? North vs South Korea?? Taiwan sovereignty?? they only care about their own livelihoods..

Why from our point of view pinoy president, indo president, ah jib kor, brexit..   all look so ridiculous but are supported by their own masses?? Becoz its wat their citizens want .. wat you and i need/want does not matter.

The things he said resonated with his citizens.. and they have voted. Period end of story!

We as singaporean citizens voted for our government to handle these situations.. if they are not up to it.. then its time to change as well..

Very good post but I cannot praise you again.

Dow up 300 points. FTSE up 68 points. Nikkei up 900 points. Even our STI up 34 points.

Trump's victory shocked the world and even the Americans themselves. Because no one sees him as a president material. Having no experience in the office or military, it will be hard for him to handle politics. Moreover, as a POTUS, he needs to handle not just his own country but also to build good relationship with other countries too. This is easier said than done.

My take on his win is he's being a populist during his campaign. Sounding out the voice of many commoners and what they want to hear. Kind of our 2011 GE. Looking at the bigger picture, a lot of things he said don't make sense as a POTUS at all. I just hope what he said in the campaign is for the sake of gaining votes.

Lets see show loh,,, he sure make many blockbuster shows one... Cant even speak like a POTUS and now is a POTUS... see how he sia suay the americans..

yup. i duno y so many singies hate trump n his anti-FT policies yet in 2011GE everyone wanted cheap labor  n PRCs out of SG. SG is full of farking hypocrites.

Other countries cannot practice democratic vote but we can? Who r we to say or know better than the US citizens themselves? I see so many of my social media frens bashing Trump, but do they know better than Americans? Do they know how unpopular hilary n obama are?

actually, hillary got the popular vote (majority of voters), Trump won the electorial colleage, so at least 50% of the americans think that he will be a bad president.

Why should the US care about SCS, N v S korea? because it will affect them, their jobs, and their economy too.

Even SG cares about the world and the region, just that we do not have much power. US is different, they have the power to either stablise or escalate the situations.

If trump puts in play some of the promises he made during the campaign, the world would be worse off. ( mass deportations, trade war with china, tariffs, etc)

If he does not, then he will be just like any other politican, saying what people like to hear but not implementing it.

We will see in the next 4 years (if he lasts that long).

Yes as a business men definitely he will be able source and negotiate better deal for USA. However every deal come with a price/condition. Not as it you can pay them off by cash.

Furthermore building a wall do come with a cost. Either taxpayer or borrowed. Terminate TPP might result in repercussion where countries pull out their investment/us bond etc.

So not as easy as what he said during the rally. Those motions unless can push through eitherwise still like our mcf tcss. Haha

Another point to note. He is the first president without any experiences from military, miniterial and office post. So he must select his cabinet very very careful. The downfall of Korea lady president listening to her lady soul mate is a mirror to trump.

OK lastly..trump wife is hot. really those cfm look. Hope to see her picture more often. Haha

You take the wife.

I rather have the daughter

not sure what yr point is?

meaning the majority does not benefit from a stable world?

the majority would prefer a world where there are tensions in SCS and korea so that asia will not spend nor travel to US? so that the world economy will be affected?

I'm not going to comment on what Trump might do, cos he hasn't done anything yet.

I can only say one thing that yes,  the elite is benefiting disproportionately from the global situation currently. BUT and this is an important BUT, it doesn't mean that the majority won't suffer disproportionately from a change in the global situation.

They voted for change, but they don't know what change they will get yet.

Anyway the republican party which is where the congressmen and senators are all closely linked to big businesses. Just as the democrats.

trump himself is big business.

He said he will hand over his business to his children. Unlike zukerberg, gates and buffet who will give the majority to charity.

Do you think he will implement any policies that will impact his wealth?

He has no record of public service. Let's see what he will implement.

DEMOCRACY without much choices, the people LLST have to choose one.

Expecting the worse and hope for the best [laugh]

It depends, never underestimate the power of unity. People can go for protest or riot. Small riot still okay, what if riot everywhere and people just refuse to listen to government and maybe even the police officer side on citizen side instead of government how?

At least there is vote to select president. So people can't complaint as majority of them vote for trump. A win is a win.

to be very honest.. maintaining regional stability is the job of UN and NATO etc.

Not the job of any single country.

Phrase it this way..  to send troops to war need $$.. and when they try to recoup back with oil and etc.. they get slammed for going to war for $$ and free trade agreements etc etc..

personally...  of cus if US stops their big brother role.. its detrimental..   but i guess if there has to be some destabilizing to achieve a new equilibrium.. i can live with that

His reality sets in.. Let's see how busy he could get as compared to his businessman life. Maybe he will grow white hair soon instead of gold hair. Even if he dye the hair, I believe no use as the white will still shows in his hair.. Haha

Lol i only have negative expectations of him. But anyway LL, rice already cooked.

It's ironic that they voted out a deemed elite from a common background, but voted in someone who's born with a silver spoon and is the very elite screwing the common people over.

You have to ask urself, if u live in america, ur life is not improving and yet the country is getting richer. The rich are getting more and more rich. Then u heard your country want to meddle with a place called scs while u are sufferring. What will u do? You got nothing to loss because u got nothing. Now this foul mouth guy come along and speak out what is in ur heart. Yes u dont think he can do anythimg but at least he can pull all those elite face down to the ground and join u. Now tell me isnt that exciting. The elite will finally know how u feel when the policy dont benefit you.

Thats why I say we cannot rationalise from our point of view. We have to see what they aee thinking. They might become worse but they know the elite will suffer more
