To answer your question. There's no turbo charging. Those engines were tuned for power. The current engines are tuned for efficiency.

And authorised dealers cannot under declare . this is an illegal practice and if caught. They risk losing their distributorship. If u r the head of AD, will u dare take this risk?

Don't forget if one dealer under declare, its easy for sour grapes to sabo and report to authorities. Its all about risk and return

If not wrong stricter modern emission standards put paid to the NA 1.6l, 160hp Civic for good so not entirely Honda's fault. In fact, it's sad cos new Civic type R has gone turbo as well and Honda's reputation as builder of good NA engines are now history I'm afraid. Sorry for the OT n back to Attrage discussion.

Turbocharged

Chery Fulwin2 and J3 also below S$90k

Rather be caught driving a beat up used vios than to be driving brand new versions of these.. Edited by Pocus

Turbocharged

Honda EG6/9 running B16A engine, 170ps/7800rpm.

http://asia.vtec.net/specs/egcivic/

Don't bring this engine into the picture lah. It's 170ps in the 90s it based on emission levels of that time and without a catalytic convertor. This engine will not even pass EURO 1 standards in today's context, let alone EURO 7 standard.

Jazz 1.3 going for around $100k so quite a distance away from the $85k thereabouts of the Attrage and Accent. Mz2 abit cheaper but still in mid $90k range.

Chery can get at below $80k but don't think we want to consider that [:p]

Actually quite difficult to make a decision between attrage and accent. Both cars seems to look good.

Please note the Accent price is based on a COE rebate of 39k. Its just taking customer money for their own purpose. No Top up, no accent.

I own an attrage. Why I choose an attrage over the others was because of FC initially as I drive pretty much. And after 2 weeks of driving I conclude that If you are looking for a good FC car attrage is really for you. Without jam KPE reaching 22km/l not a problem. I average around 15km/l - 16km/l for a mixed driving which is very good.

Power don't expect great power to reach acceleration fast as compared to 1.6CC cars. But then again if you are not racing, it should not matter that much. 100km/h-110km/h is no problem and you wont feel unstable like smaller cars 1L cars. the speedometer shows up to 200km/l!

The sound proofing is really good for a 3 cylinder car. Look at the hood you will understand. Yes the metal is thinner than most korean made but understand that lighter cars does not mean more dangerous. It depends on their structure. It scores a good NCAP review. You see the heavier the car, the more fuel it drinks which is logical. Driving this car is smooth can go upslope, carpark and expressway no problem.

After driving, What I really like about the car is the abit dated look instead of the very common futuristic Korean look of Hyundai and kia. The exterior is a very safe design - not wavy like Korean makes but smooth and well built look. Look like a VIOS but except a fiercer and bulkier front look to it. It has a very smooth flow from the front to the back not like most sedan that has a very thin front and sudden jerk up design for the windscreen. This design is so that the car do not drag too much for good airflow and FC. The colour you choose for this car is important. Pearl white and black suit this design and front grill most I feel. The interior doesn't feel cheap and pretty well built and spacious. (choose the 2 tone interior looks much better). That is where I felt the brochure of blue does not do the car justice.

I do not regret buying attrage infact, the more I drive, the more I appreciate this car for what it stand for! FC, space, lower maintenance cost, lower insurance, lower road tax ($412/year), reasonable drive without hurting the pocket much and nice looks of the pearl white car. Most of my friends could not believe it is 1.2L looking at the car and sitting on it and commented on the nice colour and design of the car both exterior and interior. Bottomline - not china quality but decent Japanese made. Keyless push button entry and push start is really a bonus I feel for this car. My previous car always have to change battery for remote control as I have to press my remote to open and close...very troublesome. Sometimes remote spoil or no batt , worst I cannot unlock car without disturbing alarm...crazy. And if i use key to open the door and start engine, scratch surface of car and dashboard. With push button open door I am using the car battery instead of my remote battery. Hopefully longer life and less battery change with frequent use. So it is a wonderful feature.

Reliability and durability - I have not driven the car or no one has driven the car for ten years to comment on this. I based this on mitsubishi brand's past records compared to Korean made cars when I choose whether to go for the similarly priced attrage, accent or sonic. I believe Korean cars should have improved on quality for their new model. It will take time to tell. For now no problem for the attrage it feels light but well built.

Hi all, a newbie here. Booked an attrage after the 2nd COE bidding in July with the Leng Kee showroom. My current ride is due to be scrapped late August, so was hoping to secure the COE at 1st bidding for August but unfortunately wasn't successful. Was told though that the other showroom at Ubi, the bookings made after the 2nd bidding in July were all successful in securing their COE (can't confirm accuracy though). I had thought the securing of COE would apply for all regardless of which showroom, maybe I am uninformed and ignorant on how it works. Just wondering if any of you guys who had booked an attrage, have had the same fate as me? Was also told that the ubi showroom is able to give our free servicing package for attrage booking. I didn't get such freebie at Leng Kee . Only can blame myself for impulsively signing on the dotted line w/o doing thorough research & comparison first. Now just hope to secure COE at 2nd August bidding. Wish me luck and will update on the performance of the attrage once I have collected the ride and tested it! [;)]

Unless it's bought at different price, it sure is strange that for the same batch, some got COE whilst some didn't. On top of that the Leng Kee showroom is n fact the main C&C showroom for Mit whereas the Ubi Fulco one is the agent.

Free svc package possible coz agent maybe willing to pay for this n in fact even between SEs there might be differences. Almost impossible for u to do homework on this as u can't get a quote from one SE n compare with another as some ADs practise locking in of clients with the first SE that served them. Anyway, good luck for next round n keep the feedback coming!

saw an Attrage being used as a private driving instructor's car around Ubi... it does remind me of the old Vios which was used for the same purpose.

The Attrage is made in Thailand lah.. not Japanese made..

Dealers usually consider the entire deal package as well as their current cars in stock to decide who to bid higher for COE.. I have also just placed booking for Attrage with few freebies.. let's see if they get me COE in Aug 2nd bidding.. [cool]

I was told by the SE that the car I booked had stock but I didn't take up the guaranteed coe package, maybe that's why didn't get. Which showroom did you book with and what freebies did you get? What made you decide to get the attrage? For me, it's largely because of the fc, hopefully it turns out to be accurate [:)]

Congrats on your buy. Attrage is considered spacious for a car of its size.

However, expectations are to be managed, for a small capacity car with auto transmission.

A small capacity N.A. engine, married to an auto gearbox which saps power, usually has the driver stepping harder on the accelerator to catch up with traffic conditions, leading to higher fuel consumption.

To max out on fuel economy in such cars, a sedated driving style is required, ie. stepping gently on the accelerator as if there's an egg below it.

Thanks for the advice. I will have to get the attrage first and see how it works in real world driving.

Wonder if Full load can the Attrage ascend Genting reasonably bo?

I am usually driving alone or with 1 front passenger. Don't think I will be ascending Genting anytime soon, lol. I think it will require some effort for the attrage to ascend Genting, but it should be manageable.
