Sdf4786k Twincharged June 16, 2015 Share June 16, 2015 Was just wondering if getting a new plate when buying a second hand car makes sense. Else, the previous owner maybe chalking up fines OR has paid fines but the record is not clean off. ↡ Advertisement

Chongtse 1st Gear June 16, 2015 Share June 16, 2015 proof of purchase is no longer useful. Just happened to me 2 days back. Bought my car on 2015 feb. Summon date was 2012. Explained to the officer at the station that i just purchased this car this year (was stop at road block). All he said was it is our duty to ensure that the car is summon free before we buy it. Which i kinda agree with him. Total of 3 outstanding summons and he is kind enough to let me pay 1 (150rm) and then ask me to go back singapore to settle with my dealer. Fett 2nd Gear June 16, 2015 Share June 16, 2015 Is there a channel to do a search if a particular plate got outstanding summon in malaysia or not? its so scary cos you dont know if the summon is real or not in the first place, and there is almost nothing you can do once they stop you. Just prepare few hundred ringgit to burn when u go in
Darryn Turbocharged June 16, 2015 Share June 16, 2015 Take reference from here: SINGAPORE - Malaysian traffic police have collected 4,200 outstanding traffic fines from Singapore motorists in an operation that began on Friday. Most had been summoned for speeding. Motorists with outstanding fines were nabbed at three locations in Johor Baru, the Bernama news agency reported on Sunday (June 14). Since 2010, more than 700,000 outstanding summonses were issued for traffic offences involving foreign motorists including 500,000 from Singapore, the report said. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/transport/story/malaysian-traffic-police-collect-more-4000-outstanding-fines-singapor#sthash.P1ZBS0YZ.dpuf Also - by right, if can prove change of ownership, you are supposedly not responsible for previous fines. That is what TP told us... Deividz 5th Gear June 16, 2015 Share June 16, 2015 I just got checked yesterday. Better dont speed during office hours in MY now. BTW, system broke down at 10 pm last night I was about to pay. Waited 40 min before they gave up and told loads of people to pay through internet. Not sure I want to laugh or cry. I'm not taking EDL home during holiday period again.
