Any bro knows how to use SSD like a portable drive? I have one spare to use. What's the connection type of your spare SSD? There are namely SATA (normally used in desktop/older notebook), mSATA (normally used in notebook), and M.2 Identify the connectivity and do a search in Amazon or eBay (or even SLS) for a casing to convert it to USB3.0. You'll soon enjoy a fast portable drive.

Some brands of notebook just simply don't work well with certain brands of SSD, for whatever reasons. Confirm that before getting the SSD. For notebooks, usually will require additional hardware for cloning, that is the converter from your SSD connection to USB port. If the new SSD that you bought comes with a cloning s/w, then use it. Else, you can decide whether to buy one that you like, or download a free copy. I no $$ after getting the SSDs, so can only download a free copy for use. Then the hardware and drivers may not matched up properly. In some cases, you may still need to reinstall drivers. Reinstalling a new OS from scratch is much cleaner and some times may be faster than the cloning. ↡ Advertisement
