C&C is not hungry .... they have enough sales from C and CLA

next focus would be to push for the new E class to capture BMW F10 "departing" owner ... lol

i don't think they are going for price competitive in SUV class [mad]

yeah, that is my guess as well, which is about SGD$15-25K above standard GLC SUV, also depends on the "standard equipment" - whether they want to bring in AMG LINE as standard, 21 inch, etc.

(maybe throw in some additional standard features, lane assist / blind spot)

again, pricing also depends on market conditions, - aka main and only "competitor" is BMW X4 (in terms of SUV COUPE)

base model from $234K (correct as of 1st June - SGCARMART)

mid model - $273K (vs BMW X3 - 260K)

like what I said earlier, if C&C want to increase market share (Number 1 Luxury Brand or Most SUV) and "flood" the market with MB SUV, best way is through "competitive" pricing

Cheers!

They keep telling me diesels aren't popular here. But I see even Porsches have! And btw that BMW 116d is selling damn well.

So why no diesels? Anyone here pro diesels?

1st time seeing a silver GLC on the road today.

Think silver is best colour for this.

I find the silhouette of the car abit off....

maybe just me.

GLA is so much better.

Since I'm driving a diesel now, must say that I too find it ideal for our roads.

The instant torque is esp useful for overtaking n changing lanes confidently.

Problem is diesels with the clatter n vibration is deemed as unrefined so higher end car owners may not appreciate this n I think Premium ADs feel only entry level models may sell well which is evident in the BMW116, 216. C&C has not even introduced A or B class diesels so I doubt if they will do so for GLC or its equivalent models, my 2 cents...

I have seen a handful of diesel S-class, X5, Q7, Discovery, XF, etc. plying our road (Singapore plate) and you can hardly tell that they are diesel model without looking at the badge. And they zoom of from traffic light with ease. I personally have traveled in diesel Audi, Citroen and Mercedes, and except for Citreon (older C5), don't really feel any difference when in the cabin. Guess a lot of buyer are still not aware of the advantage of driving a diesel car.

For me, as mentioned before, the only one concern is with the uncertainy in the special diesel tax. I still mindful of what have happened to CNG vehicle a couple of years back. A moving goal pole... :a-noway:  [thumbsdown]  [thumbsdown]

Good points bro! Inside the cabin, I can't tell any vibration nor hear any clatter though outside its evident.

Yes, the moving goal posts is definitely a worry so I better enjoy it whilst I can, cheers n in advance I wish u a nice weekend!

my understanding diesel car will get noiser and noiser as it aged. not sure if true. petrol also the same but not as bad.

the same trick.. attract everyone to go diesel then change tax policy then all kana hook because cannot change car.

I have seen the GLC

Rather disappointed. It doesnt look that nice. Inside is crampy and boot space too small

really? some here said equivalent to Q5 and X3.. so should be ok right?

Inside noise & clatter is kept to a minimal if have good sound insulation esp from a respectable brand.. but hear it from outside is significantly more obvious. Like car parks and similar.

Once I heard the diesel clatter sound from far in a basement carpark.. like Sonata Taxi type, only to realise it was a Jaguar XF. My neighbour's Volvo S60 D2 also.. from far you can hear it approaching.

In the end.. give & take lor. Got instant high torque to trade for this shortcoming.
