Wow Macan 2.0 is also same. Can see Macan MY19 reaching close to 300 bhp. A45 is going beyond 400 with 2.0L

Squeeze Squeeze....

2017 Q5 / Macan
2L turbo engine with 252bhp & 370Nm ...
same same but different [thumbsup]

Does anyone knows how long Homologation takes for the GLC? Mine has 2 extra options

- blind spot assist

- extra side airbags at rear

If you buy from C&C, they will always say an additional month. Since yours is not exhaust related, i doubt there is additional time for homologation.

You should test drive NX and new X3/newQ5 before making a decision as it seem like you are not in a hurry anyway.

I chose GLC over NX, old X3, XC60, LR Disco Sport, old Q5, F-pace.  It's your money, you have to like what you spend it on.

Why didnt choose the GLC Coupe? It looks more fierce than the normal GLC.

Think when he ordered that time got no GLC Coupe yet. Coupe came out much later but yes it looks sportier and fierce but some guys don't like the lower roofline esp at the back but that is what makes it swee I feel. Family guys mostly will choose normal GLC and its about $20k cheaper as well.

But like the GLC, this coupe also long wait for delivery.

Normal one delivery is okay. Coupe is min. 8 months.

Ok thks for info, thought still got long waiting time for GLC so now production line has finally caught up with the demand and instead its the Coupe production line that is now lacking.

it was not released yet when I place my deposit so not really a consideration.

But on hindsight, it looks fiercer but much less practical. Due to the sloping roof, they cannot fit a pano-roof in the coupe. It kinds of take the word "UTILITY" out of the SUV class.

There is a niche market for cars like X4, GLC coupe, GLE coupe, X6.... but not really my cup of tea. I have seen in overseas forum where the owners lower their GLC coupe/SUV......I was thinking they might have as well gone for the C-class coupe or wagon and save more money.

If I want a really fierce car...I would have gone for a normal coupe with decent power engine.

Coupe is more expensive because their starting line up is already AMG-Line (Sports grill, suspension, AMG-line brakes, sports steering, interior trimmings, 19inch AMG rims IIRC) which is already a $10K there abouts option on the SUV. So in reality the price difference is narrower..about $10K.

So at base level, the coupe will have firmer suspension setting and I read that the turning rack ratio is tighter compared to the SUV for an even sportier driving feel.

Most people I feel, choose a Merc SUV for it's luxury and relaxed driving characteristic (compared to BMW X3 feel-everything-on -the-road edginess), so the sportier handling/ride of the coupe may not be everyone's cup of tea especially if they are in the market for an SUV functionality car.

"Coupes" will always look nicer but they will also always compromise on space compared to the regular variant.

So its just a matter of what the buyer needs more.

For me at this stage, function more than form between the two variants.

We want kick from standstill to reach the next light and repeat...... [:p]

When I started from Borneo, SE asked to take AYE, but I "u" turned at the Anchorage and back to showroom and said I am sorry, let us not waste time.

Lexus is not for everyone, it is a car to sit back and enjoy the leisure driving which is not in my liking.

The NX felt very lethargic and heavy for me. Accelerator response like you say is a bit slow to react, anything under 30km/h when you want oomph, you can forget about it. The feeling of its weight is always there but with the GLC250, it feels more light & agile even though both have very similar kerb weight on paper.. but I still can't get around the gear stick at signalling area. Super awkward feeling every time wanna change gear.

Don't need to even mention the RX.. 2.0T at 2 tonnes. Seldom have 200+ BHP 350nm 0-100km/h at 9s+ one  [laugh]

I guess in SUV segment, Your new Q5 will be interesting with 250 bhp.

I can see a clear pattern in choosing car makes:

Stream 1: Honda --> BMW --> Porsche (This is pretty much my route, even though I had Nissan, Mazda for very very short period in between)

Stream 2: Toyota --> MB / Lexus --> Another MB or Lexus.

Stream 3: Confused ones with slogan - My money, I buy whatever is available.

If anyone from hardcore Stream 1, no point wasting time with any makes in stream 2 unless or otherwise he/she ages prematurely (like our friend @Turboflat4 [:p]  [laugh]

All I gotta say is once you are in Stream 2, you usually do not break out of it!  ^_^

Rear headroom space limited. Booth space limited.

And price about 20k more

I dont think rear headroom is a problem at all unless you have passengers who are 2m tall. I am 1.92m tall and I fit into the rear seats comfortably.

Boot space between the two is not too much limited, appro 50L difference? From what I compare between the two, the GLC has a rear flat boot. However, the GLC Coupe has a boot lip. I prefer flat boot for easy loading. But actually not that easy too cos of the height of the car. Still needs lots of effort to lift it up higher to slide in.

Price, I dont know.

Comparing the two, GLC and GLC Coupe side by side, GLC looks very uncle type. [lipsrsealed]

My bro is getting the GLC Coupe Diesel with 500NM. He test drove it and placed a deposit. I went with him to look see look see. These cars are currently out of my pocket range, can only envy. [laugh]
