Google for "paultan 2015 MAzda 2 Sedan - first details and specifications". However Australia Mazda indicate the boot space is 440 litres (VDA), so I am not sure which is accurate but the space is around 400 litres. You are right, engine performance wise should be same as the hatch, which also means pretty responsive for such size.

 

Or wait for SG motorshow, read that it will be launched that period. Saw this sedan for real in Msia, it does look good to me, doesn't look unbalance at all.

Ok tks bro! Yes it will be launched at Motor Show. As I mentioned, price will be the determining factor I feel so we shall see and agreed looks quite balanced from the pics though you saw it in the flesh.

 

For entry level car, believe it will give Attrage and gang a good fight!!

Think this is the first Mazda MIT brought in locally? 

 

Mazda traditionally has been one of the most reliable brands so I don't foresee any issue. Also, not read anything adverse on this model so far cos it has been produced since 1st half of last year if not mistaken.

 

To me, price is the main consideration cos obviously if can get a MIJ model for few k more than this might not sell. Mz2 hatchback standard around $94k n Mz3 standard sedan around $100k so my take is this should be near $90k to do well?

 

The previous Mazda 2 sedan was also made in Thailand.

i think attrage no fight if priced is somewhat near. Say if i add few more k. The build quality, equipment level, nvh, handling, performance n probably sound quality far exceeded that few k justification, even if MIT. Only issue that mz loses out will b cabin space.

Yes the previous version was sold here but IIRC, it didn't last n they didn't bring in after that.

Now with a new model in place, hope they learnt their lessons n do the necessary to ensure this model sell well here n thereby giving us buyers more options.

Agree with you but let's not get carried away as the game changes if AD prices it wrongly.

That's why I say price it at least $5k below 2HB standard which Shld be around $85k n cars like Attrage, Note etc will feel the heat.

i honestly don't know what lessons there are to learn... was build quality bad? or was the mazda-buying crowd simply "avantgarde" enough to prefer hatchbackes to sedans? i don't see many on the streets too, but i consciously remembered it as the thai mazda.

 

$85k will be a very good price. since they price 3 hatchback at $5k more than the 3 sedan, they can only be consistent by similarly pricing the 2 sedan below the 2 hatchback.

i'm expecting at most 2-3k diff like accent sedan n hatch, n impreza sedan n hatch, as the price scale / range being smaller, else the budget-conscious will likely shun mz2 sedan. let's c how AD market it. perhaps there'll b a surprise price at launch in the upcomin motorshow.

 

from recent coe cats being close, certain car price diff in these cats r closer, so i believe those with budget for cat A will change their mind quite sudden n book cat B cars, provided they have one in mind.

Did some research and found that the Sedan is abit lighter than the hatchback. In auto form, the hatchback already perform a decent sprint from 0 - 100km/h in around 10 seconds, in a 6 speed manual for the timing will be around 9 seconds. Of course is not for racing, but these figures do show that Mazda 2 will provide quite an effortless drive around. Highly doubt the manual will make it here with the Sedan, if not it is quite a pocket rocket.

Anyone spotted LEDs headlights for this sedan? Thailand specs mazda 2 in Malaysia comes with all round disc brakes. Not sure if SG ones will be better equipped. Will have to see it at Motorshow.
