Cannot blame MOE. There are always risks to be taken if we want to learn anything meaningful. The young generations are already being called the strawberry generation. How much safer and risk free do we want them to be?

Nobody could foresee the earthquake.

Let's hope it turns out well for the rest. Prayers go out to them.

What a name to call this expedition, The OMEGA Challenge.

Hopefully this is not the final challenge for these young children starting out in their lifes.

Should have called it "The ALPHA Challenge".

May she RIP. Sad for the parents.

My thought goes out to all those facing a difficult time in this disaster.

Read from HSK FB that parents, MOE officials and support personnel are being or flown out this morning.

Our hearts go out to the parents. Hope the remaining 9 can be found soon.

Chill lah, think he just saying that u can't forsee an earthquake.

It's not like there's a safety lapse during the excursion.

It's an understandable reaction for parents to not allow their children to go on excursions again for some time.

The Korean ferry disaster also probably has the same reaction.

They should be at home studying for their PSLE exams, why MOE/school organize at this time for P6 students?

You just become part of a "Strawberry" gen , the maker and the blamer .

There's the problem of Singaporean, getting name without knowing the true meaning behind.

For those uninitiated, Omega is the last letter of Greek (like 'Z' in English) while 'Alpha' is the 1st .

Natural calamities can strike anytime/anyplace, nothing we can do to prevent such suayness...

From the numerous replies here, i can see why we have so many young strawberries in Spore, given that their parents are with such mindset too.

Ok lar, I understand that this is an emo thread which is normal for many MCF fathers/ mothers to post strong opinions.

Please restrain ourselves from accusation and name-calling.

Our prayers are with the missing and the parents/siblings.

The most important thing now, is to have the news that they are all sound and fine ....

For natural disaster, anything can happen any time....

we can't prevent natural disaster....

"The last time an earthquake occurred in Sabah was in Sandakan in February this year with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale."
