Fit taxi is too harsh to ride on the back + such a small cab still charge premium fare. [thumbsdown]

Prefer to ride on Latitude, Camry, Prius as taxi.

Seems like Toyota Crown Royal not popular here, don't remember seeing any of them on the road. Don't know it is due to the crown taxi, thts why no people want to buy?!

That wagon taxi back then was not very comfort to ride on, still remember the boot size quite huge.

If you work in a strict japanese companies like my previous workplace, you will see it everyday or assign you 1 unit as your company car for work. Their choice of company car is always Crown or Lexus only.

Other place where you can find these crown royal is at standard charted bank, they have bought a 2 or 3 as company car too.

seems Camry is more popular... BM don't bring Crown in... but it do seem that when a car become a taxi SGP don't like to buy them afterwards.

Previous Magentis & Sonata also didn't sell much... K5 also I think a bit affected.

edit: SGP also tends to buy compact car more, taxis are typically mid-size...

BM all the way do bring in Crown, but the market is too niche here. The last time they bring in is at 2009 or 2010, not alot of ppl buying it because they price too high for it. Somemore ppls will laugh because sharing same name with taxi.

Mine is a PI unit, carry a crown badge at the front rather than BM's unit which carry a normal toyota badge.

The old Toyota Crown badge looked regal... the recent ones look like dustbin.

I'll totally not mind the dustbin if I could afford one, though. I believe in Toyota (esp Japan) workmanship.

My friend's dad had one. Very understated luxury car.

Huge though. Quite tricky to drive and park.

I saw one very old one doing car grooming... inside still fabric seats, but very thickly padded.

If the japanese company is using crown or lexus, that company should be making lots of money?! Lol. I noticed that japanese company confirmed will use japanese car for their staff, but mostly is altis, camry or estima.

I'm guessing it's this one, which is more common:

This car changed hands 4 times between 2009 and 2011.

Yes, that company is very well known in Japan & has several business divisions to take care of different areas. (Banking, medical & etc)

They are very particular about things use for official business, that is why crown is always their 1st choice for company vehicle. They wouldn't care a hoot at altis because it is regard as non japanese product to them even it is wearing a toyota badge. I dunnoe why their thinking is like that....

I think I just saw two facelift i40 taxis go by...

Happen to take few Sonata and i40 cabs recently and all felt very bumpy, jittery and crashy. Also, the brake is very sbatchy... Not sure if it's the driver's problem or cab problem.

Then, there's one old cabby kept twisting steering left right left right......
