Kar_lover Supercharged August 2, 2018 Share August 2, 2018 No more 1.6L turbo for Tucson ah? Was still looking at it to replace my current car next time. I think it was cannibalizing Kona 1.6T which is smaller yet more expensive.
Daniu82 Supercharged August 2, 2018 Share August 2, 2018 But sales for 1.6L Turbo for Kona should not be that good (most buy 1L manual) and reviews for 1.6L turbo for Tucson was good. I think it was cannibalizing Kona 1.6T which is smaller yet more expensive.
Atrecord Supersonic August 2, 2018 Share August 2, 2018 Any updates on the facelift model? No news on their website or FB about the launch KMC said Sep. Dunno how accurate. No more 1.6L turbo for Tucson ah? Was still looking at it to replace my current car next time. Not sure. Some said Hyundai is ditching the DCT, not the turbo... terbgill 1st Gear August 2, 2018 Share August 2, 2018 Not sure. Some said Hyundai is ditching the DCT, not the turbo... Yeah wanted to get the previous 1.6T version. But the DCT was a major concern especially when driving in a city, Glad they ditched it for auto tranny but I hope they keep the 1.6T. Better performance and lower road tax.

For anyone curious about the FL coming, it actually has a few improvements over the current model that has just stopped selling:

Looks better than the previous model. Hope it arrives here soon, then I can go down see. If price good even better. You so fast plan your next car? yup, quite a few were not used to the DCT, and it caused them some scares. Why people not used? I agree that Kona 1.6 is too expensive, even more expensive than Tucson 1.6. See when the new Tucson come lor, if baby 2 comes then might need a bigger car liao. Think ahead is better imo.
Atrecord Supersonic August 2, 2018 Share August 2, 2018 What is the problem on DCT? Why people not used? The DCT gearbox is programmed in a certain way (to react in a certain way) when the driver steps on the accelerator in a certain way. In short, there is some pre-programmed reaction from the driver's action. Then if the driver is not used to or not aware of this, and when driver act (step) in a certain way thinking that the car will react in a particular way, but the DCT's pre-program gives another reaction, that's when the driver gets a shock... Some driver complains on MSCP got the engine revs quite high on its own without stepping on the accelerator. Got people steps on the accelerator, then got sound of rev and can see rpm increases, but car didn't move... This is what I heard. Looks better than the previous model. Hope it arrives here soon, then I can go down see. If price good even better. I doubt price will be good. over the past 2 yr, OMV has dropped by maybe 20%, COE by ~$25-20k. But price (before they sold out all Tucsons) was merely few thousands lower... I am guessing komoco will take the chance to raise price (since there are impovements to the last/existing model).

I also dont like such programmed stuff. Lol.

So the 1.6T Tucson was killing the Kona's sale hence they have to stop the tucson to "force" people to buy Kona.

But compare between tucson and kona, isnt tucson looks bigger and spacious? If price not that big difference, maybe people still choose to buy tucson than kona lo.
Atrecord Supersonic August 2, 2018 Share August 2, 2018 Exactly. So the 1.6T Tucson was killing the Kona's sale hence they have to stop the tucson to "force" people to buy Kona. actually kona is newer than tucson, and has more features plus being smaller/lighter, it is more powerful/faster than Tucson. hence the price was higher than tucson. But compare between tucson and kona, isnt tucson looks bigger and spacious? If price not that big difference, maybe people still choose to buy tucson than kona lo. Yes, Tucson is bigger. and cheaper. Kona is newer, faster, more features (higher spec), so it's a bit more expensive.

Its very risky to drive across to M'sia if this problem persists. ↡ Advertisement
