Ender Hypersonic May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 Engage the service of this guy to house-sit your car, while you go shopping. Just leave him a water bottle to relive himself.. http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/home-sit-home
Yeshe Turbocharged May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 Yep. If they want to still can. But this will take them alot longer. So it might deter them. Not easy to get the car on these dollies also if you park inbetween two cars. Without the steering lock, they can easily get into the car and straighten the wheel. before towing. By having the steering wheel lock, they have to pull the car out first before putting it on the dollies then can drive off. Why RWD reverse in? This makes it easier for them to tow. The won't care if your transmission gets damaged or not. They'll just get the car first. Those repo guys do the same thing also. Just tow first, go somewhere deserted or further away already then turn the car around. If like that say, it doesn't matter head in or out. They will just tow by brute force. Nzy Twincharged May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 If like that say, it doesn't matter head in or out. They will just tow by brute force. That's why park head in with wheel turned all the way to one side and locked with steering wheel lock and park between two cars. Don't park at those deserted carparks where there is alot of space on the left and right of your car. This way they can't tow cuz the front wheel turned all the way to one side and will hit the cars on the left/right and get stuck. With the steering wheel lock, even if they managed to unlock the doors, they also cannot straighten the wheels. They can use dolly but it will be very difficult if there are cars parked on the left and right and it will take a long time. All these will help to deter them. Nissan833 5th Gear May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 All these mechanisms to prevent theft of vehicle.. kns in the end only deter. I must say these thieves are really enterprising.. every tool and mechanism thrown at them, they also can unlock it (like old time tv show Mc Guyver) If only they use this wisely elsewhere.. Adrianli Hypersonic May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 If like that say, it doesn't matter head in or out. They will just tow by brute force. I would say, - if encounter small time criminals, they go for easy to steal. A little delay in driving off with your car, they will avoid. - if its a syndicate, with an order for a particular car, they have all the means to tow ur car away no matter what kind of device you deploy. Even at gun point/HIV injections, u also lan lan hand over ur key.

Fitvip Supersonic May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 ermm, why no one thought of this? a quick release on the steering wheel? when locked your car, take out your steering wheel, either place in the boot and lock it or carry it with you... in a bag.. doable? i don't believe the theft will actually bring a spare steering wheel with boss kit out in most days. Once I saw a car in White Sands car park with the steering wheel removed and put on the dash board!. Can they still tow if you're head -in with towing point facing the wall? correct me if I'm wrong.....cannot right? There is a tow point at the rear too! Zippaboy 4th Gear May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 (edited) Guys, I used to ride very frequently into Malaysia and Thailand. Of course if they really decide to tow your car, then my method won't help. But in most shopping malls, not that easy to tow a car out. Install a cut off switch to your fuel pump. This switch should be well hidden. You can even install a remote to control this switch. Someone snatch ur key away, activate the fuel cut off. :) My friend installed his switch at the boot area. Haha Edited May 27, 2015 by Zippaboy

Neutralsg 5th Gear May 28, 2015 Share May 28, 2015 (edited) That true? Where did you get the stats? Btw, I ended up in this forum all because of my 14 footer Mitsubishi Canter which was stolen but still had another 5 years to go before it was due to up lorry. Therefore, since a big vehicle can get lost, it comes as no surprise for the smaller ones since they probably have better value and easier to dispose or driven over to MY where the thieves can take all their time to dispose or strip or even use after changing the plates. Every 4 days, 1 car is stolen in Singapore. Edited May 28, 2015 by Neutralsg
Neutralsg 5th Gear May 28, 2015 Share May 28, 2015 That is truly news to me. Thanks for sharing. I still wonder why they don't publish the stats to create greater awareness among motorists here. Perhaps it's for reason of country, govt and/or SPF image? Singapore Police Force. 1 in 4 days is for cars only .. the total number of vehicles stolen in Singapore in a year is about 300-400. The last published data should be 1-2 years ago. And you wonder why they don't publish the numbers every year.
Char 5th Gear May 28, 2015 Share May 28, 2015 Recently there is a case of 2007 Honda Stream being stolen in JB Tesco Tabrau carpark inside the building. This made me worry on the security of JB shopping centre building management and made me too scare to drive to JB. Is there any good ways to prevent from theft of car? Is our current keyless entry with smart key smart enough to deter the car thief? Should we park with head in or head out? Is there any good security equipment we should install to our car to prevent such incident happening? Parking in Malaysia must head in and turn your wheel to either side before turn of the engine . ↡ Advertisement
