cashcow Turbocharged April 18, 2016 Share April 18, 2016 Pressing may not be important to you but is very important to Klopp. The reason we beat Dortmund is we cut supply to their most important player - Julian Weigl, more so at Dortmund and to a lesser extend at Anfield. Agree with you on Klopp's philosophy on pressing. Most important is that it 'aggressively' energises the team into action and generally rattles the game plan for the opposing team to the extent that they cannot react spontaneously to the shape or formation of the attacking wave. That's why LFC under Klopp tends to score far more goals than during BR's time (post Suarez) despite a higher rate of injuries to key players when Klopp took over. Evidently the energy levels of the players has improved now and that unsettle many opposing teams. Previously you can sensed that some team players were tired and their overall play is lethargic especially more so after an international 'break'. One remaining area needed to be patched is the defence against set pieces; and if Klopp can do that quickly, then the sky will be LFC's limit. ↡ Advertisement

Vinzntonic 4th Gear April 18, 2016 Share April 18, 2016 Finally.. i really hope skrtel goes.. other den dat season where he plunged in quite a num of goals from set pieces.. tbh he's really shit of a defender.. yes he's committed in challenges.. but he can't read the game, makes too many silly mistakes.. loses out to battle with smaller sized strikers.. can't win challenges against the taller players.. can't pass.. i'm really surprised he even lasted so long.. Ever since the spurs game when defoe was playing, how he out muscled a HIGH ball from skrtel.. was the day i know he was crap.. Time for him to go..

Atrecord Supersonic April 19, 2016 Share April 19, 2016 Sturridge is lazy as well. Though he may drop back to midfield area, it is to receive balls. He seldom press. In pool now, only ings n origi will press. Firmino also press alot, mayb thats y he did well when playing as false 9. Aft sturridge came back n origi started to get starting berth, firmino form drop. Sturridge… when Suarez was around, i always felt LS was far more hardworking, and DS was the unsettling factor, cos he always expects others to pass the ball to him to earn the glory, and his body language and facial expression will show his displeasure at his teammates for not doing do. This, despite Suarez who prob won't lose to him in terms of conversion ratio. But too bad, LS left and only DS left, so have to stick with him. He's never been the pressing type (unlike LS in the past). He waits for others to put in the shift, then only he will use some energy to sprint (ok, he's not slow when he does that) to space, then make use of his admittedly decent feet to do the work. Now that the boss asks the team to press, he and benteke are the same - they will humor the boss a bit and jog towards the goalie once in a while and jog towards the defenders holding the ball also a few times a game. I know for him it's probably also the worry of injuring himself if he tries to harass and tackle the defenders to unsettle them (which coutinho, even lallana and firmino sometimes do), but that's also not in line with the pressing tactics employed by klopp now. The main difference betw him and Ben is that at least he gets into good positions more often, and his conversion rate is higher. As long as he's scoring, and the team winning, it's still ok.

Whatever decisions Klopp is making or planning to make, I am backing him. Because Klopp expects his players to function together as a team. So if any of the players do not play to instructions, that means team cannot function to what he wants, he will first then , then , then and finally if the player doesnt buck up

JM saw it when Sturridge played for Chelsea and he let him go ..... Well, Pool hop it (I think it was BR) only to be injured for a long period of time. The moment they announced the transferred, I already seow leow.... I did the same analysed for Andy Carroll & Benteke cos I see a player's style of playing whether suit Pool or not and not his number of goals he scored during the last season. He was just playing what we call traditional striker. Just because the manager want him to press but he can't press doesn't mean he is not good. We do miss him greatly this season... Absolutely right there! His sulk face really puts me off. And i suspect possibly some teammates as well. The other thing i don't like about him is that he thinks he's messi, keeps holding on and juggling the ball, and maybe 2 times out of 5 he would end up losing it - all this when teammates sprint into space upfield and leaving gaps at the back making it dangerous if we lose the ball... Agree that he's quite decent a striker. But must make sure he's fit lor… Suarez played every game for us except when he was suspended.
