Hi.

Been lurking this thread for a bit and finally gotten to finish the hundreds of pages.

Booked my FXT 2 weeks back and eagerly waiting the arrival of my new car.

Some info sharing.

Booked at $126800. 8bid NG.

Gotten free tint, car mats, boot step plate, front sunshade and umbrella.

Is there a FB group or whatsapp group going on? Do add me. Hope to see some of the poison our Forester can take. heh

Hi, hear a lot Subaru owner mentioned groovy shades. Can show some photos? Thx

You can find some info and pics online with Google, as it's quite popular over normal shades (comes with a higher price tag as well).

Research also on Laser Shades. It's the same as Groovy Shades except that it uses magnets instead of clips. I got the Laser Shades as it's easier to install and there are no clips on the window sills when I remove the shades. Both serve the same purpose, so it's personal choice.

How much was the price difference between the two?

I think about the same. MI carry the Groovy Shades (I think $180) but not the Laser Shades. If buy from MI can offset some of the price with your DUO points. I got the 6-pieces Laser Shades set with some group buy with other owners last month. 7-pieces set will include the rear screen but at a higher price. I did not get the rear shade as I have rear camera.

We managed to get $10 discount off the Laser Shades last month when we had 4 or 5 buyers for a group buy.

What I like about these shades are that they conformed to your window shapes perfectly without any gaps and I'm able to wind down the windows without taking off the shades.

And they're effective in reducing the heat And glare from direct sunlight.

I bought the 7 piece Laser Shade (includes the rear piece). The rear piece might be a tight fit if you have rear camera installed. But can use the supplied clip to secure it.

So I did the soundproofing with MI, for 4 doors and roof plus the undercarriage coating. cost $1760. it's some aluminium coated pads, quite heavy, side benefit the doors now got solid heavy thud when closing. results are pretty decent, wind noise cut down quite a bit, could hear the radio at lower volume. road noise also cut down but effect not as pronounced as the wind noise reduction. overall pretty satisfied - i think i could have gotten a better deal in terms of price but i'm not really zai at such stuff so having MI do it is easier for me.

I find that by default there's little wind noise. it's predominantly of road noises coming from the undercarriage, wheels arches and tyre noise.

Thanks for your review, and I'm glad to hear you're happy with the results. I take it you did both anti-rust and sound dampening Clasani undercarriage coats. For the aluminium pads in doors and ceiling, do you know what brand they are? Did you have to leave your car with MI overnight or were they done within the day?

For me, it isn't wind noise either, but noise from other vehicles, as well as noise reflected from concrete road dividers.

My XT was parked last Sunday and not used for 6 days. Unable to start. Low batt and I had to use the physical key to open. Jump started and for the rest of the day ok.

My SE says it's normal to hv low batt after 6 days. I think it's appalling.

LMAO. No one touched my car (not a FXT) when I went for a 20 day trip and it came back and started on the first crank. Granted the battery was only 10 months old but your FXT can't be that old either;

How old is your car batt? Either something wrong with the batt or something is drawing current while your car is locked.

Ouch... U maybe better off getting a set of quiet tyres. U will benefit from better road handling too. The stock ones are lacking in terms of comfort, grip and noise...

As the Forester battery is wet battery that need to top up distilled water. Can we use those type of distilled water from supermarket instead of those from petrol station?

Must be battery water lar... not distilled drinking water lar... aiyoh...
