I think the stock FXT doesn't come with this auto door lock function. This $120+k prefers to be locked manually.

Some mentioned it's a safety feature. So that in the event of an accident or driver passed out with the engine still running, rescuers can open the door.

Just checked my tire pressures after about 2 weeks of collecting, all 4 at 2.6 kg/cm2 or about 250kPa. Higher than what is required. Think I will just leave it as so and let it slowly leak till required pressure. Next time then will pump to 2.3/2.2 kg/cm2

Where is the cap/nozzle for the spare tire in the boot? Looks like it is facing down....like dat how to check pressure?!

250kpa is a little high for FXT. Ride will be harder and bouncy. For new valves, which I supposed are working well, it'll take some time to drop to 230kpa. Try and adjust to the recommended pressure during your next trip to petrol kiosk. You will notice the difference in comfort.

Err most of the time first responders are not SCDF or some trained rescue personnel. Especially if the vehicle caught fire and time is of the essence to get the occupants out fast. Not many might know how to break a vehicular glass properly without injuring themselves. Edited by razor54

Agree totally.

At 250kpa, you don't get the full confidence in motion that Subaru is famous for.

Try it at the recommended pressure and you will have a smile on your face when you next drive over bumps or on windy roads. You will find car control is fantastic. All 4 wheels will stick to road like glue even when the are bumpity bumps and even at high speed the car keeps going exactly where you point it with the steering wheel.

Can even make mid course changes that you would not dare make in other cars which don't feel stable in such situations.

After 2 weeks of owning, I think "S" mode suits my driving style more. "I" feels a little laggy.  FXT here.Still in sub 1000km non-revving mode though.

You definitely have a point about finding out what happens if conditions are breached. It also puts the burden on us insured to ensure that our policies are updated as our needs change, which can be a pain. Eg, one of the big DA discounts comes with restricting travel to Singapore. If you suddenly want to make a road trip to Malacca, you've got to upgrade your policy.

It also comes down to the price gap between DA and competitors. If it's not a huge gap, I'd be inclined to save myself headache and pay a bit more for fewer restrictions. But if it's a significant gap, DA might still be worth it. We'll see next year.

Question is whether or not the trouble is worth the discount. So depends on how much discount, and depends on how careful (ngiao) you are with your money. I'll that while I'm often happy to spend on my car, I'm sometimes quite reluctant to spend on stuff like car insurance.

General insurance are very clear.. If it states excludes certain items, meaning the policy cannot be claimed... Therefore the lesser stipulated exclusions the better it is.. But this type of policy, if one has absolutely no claim then every year will save $$$. Edited by Chucky2007

I'm also on 'S' mode 90% of the time, except those very short trips then I don't bother and will just drive in 'I' mode.

Not just in responsiveness, I also find that 'S' mode tends to give me better mileage as well. While keeping the speed and accelerator constant, the live fuel consumption bar tends to swing towards the green side when I switch from 'I' to 'S' while on the move. Can't explain why but anyway, I just enjoy the more instant response from 'S' for most situations.

I very guai, all the way in I mode. I find I mode to be quite responsive before my 1k oil change. After they put in the stupid retarded Shell helix ultra 5w40, it became less responsive. 5k service i sure change engine oil.

Anyone took the upgrade and take up their Motul racing oil? Is it 5w40 or 5w30?

Motul is also 5w40~

You also have the option of the MiRT (Motor Image Rally Team) 5w40 oil.

Not all 5w40 are made equal tho..  [;)]  [;)]

In terms of price... Motul 300v > MiRT > Shell Helix Ultra.

I got a hunch what u say is correct that fuel consumption is less if the mode suits one's drive style...."I" seemed to be dropping my fuel bars more than what I'd expect. Something like the concept of resonance...higher efficiency whem style and mode resonate. Edited by Rachdanom

Actually, there are so many Motul ranges and grades, and I know for a fact that MI offers Motul in more than 5W40.

That's because MI put Motul H-Tech 100 Plus 0W20 in my Legacy, and made me top up $80.50 for the privilege (they ordered the oil for me since they refused to let me bring my own).

H-Tech 100 Plus is Motul's entry-level SN/GF-5 full synth, which comes in various grades, including 0W20, 5W30 and 10W40. There's also H-Tech Prime in 5W40. I don't know if MI also offers Motul's top-of-the-line 300v, but the fact is that H-Tech 100 Plus and Prime are also options for you, for definitely less money (dunno the exact price difference) than 300v, though more than Shell Helix Ultra (I don't know MiRT oil pricing).

So, if you're inclined to use 5W30 in your Foresters, you can ask for Motul H-Tech 100 Plus 5W30, and don't let MI tell you they don't have it. They may not have any in stock, but they can order it, and have previously done so.

I might consider adding corner back sensors later.

Thanks so much, Civicguy. This is very useful. Do you remember the price of this addon? Remember seeing it at $180. Now wanting to add on, but was qouted $220. I might remember wrongly though. Just want to confirm
