Rachdanom 2nd Gear May 20, 2016 Share May 20, 2016 (edited) Anyone successfully installed portable battery (eg cellink) powered from the armrest 12v power point? I understand tapping power from the fuse at the dash will affect warranty. Its for my planned dash and back cam parking mode. Fyi I dont prefer voltage cut off devices like Power Magic Pro. Jupitor Neutral Newbie May 20, 2016 Share May 20, 2016 Hi all, I am collecting My FXT soon, first time having turbo car, can anyone advise how to run-in the engine, especially those that can achieve 12 km/ltr or better. Thank you.
FXT May 20, 2016 Share May 20, 2016 Hi all, new here. Collected my FXT end of march. 1600km now and I've noticed several problems: 1. High pitch squeaking/screeching sound from brakes during low speed gentle braking 2. Reverse speed sometimes 3km/h, sometimes 5km/h. Small diff but it's very noticeable 3. Car can still move forward in D without pressing accelerator even with handbrake applied and moved up 2 clicks. Is this normal for AWD car? 4. Exterior plastic at base of car whitening abit. Esp on rear bumper 5. Water droplets remain in rear taillight when washing the car Anyone else experience these problems? Hope I'm not the only one... Tohto Hypersonic May 20, 2016 Share May 20, 2016 Is the system so smart to have detected your key inside the car, thus disabling the PIN code? To use the pin code once it was set already. You need to disable the system to make it ignore the key in the car before you use the code. So you can use the code to lock the car. After opening the car with the code, you should enable back the key function.

Thank you. Not much difference from running in a non-turbo car. Just follow the instructions from the manual of the FXT for the 1st 1600km. There's still plentiful of torque available even within the run-in rpms. No secrets to good FC except the pressure from your right foot and types of road conditions after your run-in period. Unless you are calculating a single trip FC which is highway cruising, it is unlikely to see 12km/L FC under normal driving in a FXT. It will hover between 9-11 km/L usually on average per tank (for my type of driving at least). Enjoy your new car and drive safe! That's quite a number of issues you are facing... 1. No screeching sound for my brakes. Screeching sounds from brakes could be due to oil contamination on the pads/rotors. Highlight it during your next servicing. 2&3. Could be due to uneven ground gradients during those experiences? 4. No whitening on mine after 4000km in rain or shine. 5. Get that checked out during next servicing. There should not be water in any light housings where there is electrical current. If it worries you before your next servicing, you can always contact MI to check.

According to my service adviser, the brake sound is normal cause of the recent rainy weather so rust forms abit on the brakes and gets scraped off. But from experience the sound can't be normal especially for a new car. In fact I first noticed the noises at like 850km last month and it's quite loud 2&3. Ground is definitely level. I noticed the diff reverse speeds when reversing out of my home driveway both times. Seems like reverse speed is slower (3km/h instead of 5) after reversing when the car has been sitting overnight or 1 full day unused. But a bit weird cause I let the engine warm up until the blue cold engine light is gone and the RPMs drop to normal idle 5. The water droplets seem to stay around the edge of the taillight not in contact with the bulb. But idk if this is normal. The Subaru BRZ review on sgcarmart also commented on water droplets in taillight What about the rest? Has anyone experienced these problems too? dlys 1st Gear May 20, 2016 Share May 20, 2016 Don't have similar problems with my FXT (8.5km mileage). All of them don't sound 'normal' and you should not accept such an answer from MI. They should replace and repair the affected parts under the warranty.

Go back to MI and let them check the brakes and tail lamps. Mine has no sounds when braking and no water in the lamp housing. Sometimes at slow speeds when parking after car wash but hardly any sounds. Maybe some dirt/small stones got stuck in your brakes. Singapore roads damn dirty nowadays with so much construction... When you are reversing, shouldn't you be watching the rear camera or outside your car (rather than your speed) to make sure u don't bump into anything... Have you tried washing away the white patches/spots on the black plastic parts? Could be due to wax as MI/Subaru will groom the car before delivery. Or it could just be road dirt/dust which shows up easily on black plastic parts

It is at a corner that the cloth cannot reach when drying the car. But is still outside. It will dry by itself. As for when you let go the brake, it is also normal. My previous car also same. This can help to prevent the car from rolling back. As for reverse, it seems the programme to be at a very slow for safety reason.

Very unlikely that I unknowingly hit something though. Cause the white streaks are at different places on the rear bumper. I tried using armorall protectant gel. Didn't work. I'll see whether MI can get this fixed when they check the brakes at the same time. ↡ Advertisement
