Goman888 1st Gear May 3, 2016 Share May 3, 2016 MI Solar film think can block 99%UV. Maybe you should ask IRR blockage % coz that's what matters for heat. As for v kool.. You also need to ask IRR as well as UVR. That guy quoted "UV100 rejection film protect your skill and reduce 70% blue light protects your eyes". Does that apply same as IRR ? Sorry to ask this as I am really not into this but with the hit weather and recently change job and also park outside hot sun. The car really like ovan! ↡ Advertisement
razor54 3rd Gear May 3, 2016 Share May 3, 2016 Park my car under hot sun for 1 hour and the stupid solar film come with it from MI cannot filter any heat. Thinking of replacing the stupid thing with UV100 by Exotic Wraps located at AMK Ind Park 2. The guy quoted me $450 to $650 for Forester. Not sure if any bros have installed the solar film from this guy. Thanks.Under our recent 33-35°C sun for an hour will heat up any car regardless of what solar film used. Don't measure the heat rejection qualities of a film by the UV protection specs. Most films now are able to achieve more than 95% UV protection, including the MI installed ones. The price difference from other installers will come from the different solar heat rejection qualities and the 'brand'. I had a top grade film installed for my moonroof and seriously cannot feel much difference with the sunlight directly shining through between the stock one and the top grade one. Maybe because it's really too hot recently to have any difference.

Sorry to ask this as I am really not into this but with the hit weather and recently change job and also park outside hot sun. The car really like ovan!Solar film block 3 things : (1) Visible light transmission - how much light is blocked. This is regulated by LTA. (2) heat - Caused by infra red rays (3) Ultra violet - can cause cancer if exposed for Long. Heat is mainly caused by Infra Red. UV Ray on the other hand is "cool" and blue in Color. Check out a fake currency detector. It use UV light. However UV Rays is more dangerous than Infra Red rays. Constant exposure to UV rays have been known to cause skin cancer. If I am not mistaken MI solar film specs as follow (1) VLT - compliant with LTA - lighter in front while darker at the rear (2) UVR - 99% - very high specs (3) IRR - 55% front, 60% back - mid level specs If you want to get solar film that rejects heat up to 90 % be prepared to pay more than $1K for it. Don't think there are any solar film can withstand the heat we are having now. Try get sunshades to complement. Alternatively don't park in the open la during afternoons. Tohto Hypersonic May 3, 2016 Share May 3, 2016 If price keeps increasing...tipping point reached...buyers might go for mazda cx5. And I believe there are several buyers that want a next stage upgrade from a Qashqai or Vezel, so past the tipping point these buyers would forego the Forester. Most of the FXT buyer did not put it on their 1st choice before buying the car. Including me. I am also concerning the Harrier. But after test driving it, I know that I must get one. To have the same performance SUV, I will need to pay for more than $200k. No others SUV come close in term of $/bhp. Good IR rejection will help to cool down faster when the aircon is ON and car on the move. You will also feel less warm on the skin if the afternoon shining through the window. Use your DUO points to get a free sunshade https://www.duo.com.sg/merchandise-inner.aspx?ItemID=486 However, note that the above is for XV - not sure if will fit forester If don't fit, then go Autobacs to buy one of a size that can fit forester. They are similar to groovy shades and fit to the shape of the windows exactly. $180 for 6 pieces (row A+B+C) including installation.

What about the front and rear windscreen when most of the sun will come in from? Does MI have also? Went to Groovy malaysian site (seems like no sg site) - saw that this type should have front and rear windscreen shade also.
