Ayuready 1st Gear December 21, 2015 Share December 21, 2015 Maybe can share who has the tires. i got them from : Yung Hin Tyre & Battery Co 461 Changi Road 419884 67474335 can give them a call before going down, i think they dun hold stock but probably got it from some other bigger dealer or people who have traded in rims on first day etc? Why must buy back exact same tyre? Since odd size take the opportunity to change to other size la? For me is really about cost. If change to other sizes, will need to change all 4? The tyres is like less than 2k mileage and wasted to change all 4 because 1 had a puncture =( Bro, I understand how you feel bec when u needed the car to work, it has a flat tyre.. but not all AD will stock up tyres so not really MI fault in my opinion as I wouldn't have thought of going back MI. When you purchased the bridegstone HL400 @$300.. it's not they are ripping offvyou, but these Dueler tyres are really so expensive. Saw the Tirerack pricing and it's one of the most expensive tyres. There are 225/55r18 tyres from other brands but it's really difficult to find this size.. The more common size are 235/50 or 235/55 or 245/50, 245/45. So I've changed out the tyres out to 235/50 already bec don't wanna take an odd size. On a preventative perspective, I has a small instant tyre inflator that's always placed together with my FXT spare tyre.. then no worries about being stranded, just pump air and go.. at past can pump spare tyre and changed out if the stock tyre really cannot hold air (99% of car owners never pump air into spare tyres anyway) thanks for the advice, the canister i bought works quite well and seems to have a foam inject. not sure if it will render the tyre unable to be patch for normal puncture but for my case side wall puncture and already the rigidity compromised as it was totally flat before i discover it and limped back to the petrol station. but the tyre inflator u all talking about air canister or those 12 volt pump? ↡ Advertisement

Twister 5th Gear December 21, 2015 Share December 21, 2015 Thanks Puiru, I thought that I'm the only one who have this unusual sound from my transmission. Did u sent your car to MI for inspectionAre you driving 2.0i Premium? The noise is actually from the AWD differential during low speed, not the CVT. The CVT is very quiet. FXT does not have the noise, not sure why, maybe they using different type of differential. BTW, I'm driving 2.0i too, i've feedback the "problem" during 1k servicing. MI's Service Advisor told me is normal, nothing can be done.

It's those 12v inflator. I got the slime brand few years ago at $40+.. and it works well. Also slim enough that it sits permanently in the spare tyre area in car all the time
jg2000 4th Gear December 22, 2015 Share December 22, 2015 (edited) tyre will void warranty meh?? Yes, if wrong sized. Main dimension that need to be correct is the tyre outside diameter - it needs to be same as that of the OEM tires. (It is ok to change the rim size - i.e. diameter of the "hole" in the middle of the tyre). The overall diameter affects the traction control and other systems as the car sensors depend on the standard diameter to know the actual car speed etc. As long you change to same outside diameter as OEM, then should be quite ok. Then next thing to take care is make sure all tyre diameters are same (some places say should maintain to within 2.4mm difference at most) - else, the differentials (which cope with the tire rotation speed differences among the tires - either from tyre diameter differences or when car turns into a curve) will overwork from the permanent tyre difference, and get damaged from the high heat build up. That's why the owner manual say if change tyre, need to change all at the same time (mainly to ensure you don't have one with brand new thread that result in slightly bigger diameter, and the rest with more worn-out thread that has smaller diameter - you can avoid this if you can find a tyre shop who can shave off some thread from the new tire so that diameter is the same as old tyres but hard to find such tyre shop in Singapore - In US, have such shops and some Subaru owners do that). [some people say ok to just change 2 tires instead of 4 but not officially indicated as such in the owner manual] Also, the reason why the normal maintenance will rotate tire to make sure all have even wear. I'm not a technical man and would like to ask the following question. Hope bros here can advise, collecting the 2.0NA soon. What size we should change to if we wish to have a more readily available tyre? Should we change immediately after collecting car so that we can get slightly more trade in value or wait? Rims need to change as well if tyre size changes? Thanks

Is that a common size? Which brand and model is good and cheap? Change at collection or later? any advise?

Fireheart71 1st Gear December 22, 2015 Share December 22, 2015 Hi, care to share. Does anyone notice the factory fitted rear view camera, when view from the head unit LCD the camera bottom line does not inline with the bumper. Also when you use the camera parking grid line to guild into the carpark lot, do you notice the car will be slant. To-day during 1K servicing, I told the advisor about it and the respond was Japan factory fitted just nice inside the mould casing, so they can't adjust as it, he can only feedback to Japan how to solve it. Anyone face this issue, pleased feedback.

So it'll never be centralized, only if u replace with another that's right at the centre say at the rear bumper, like some Honda Airwave I've seen. I think the OEM size is available if you ask for Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 which is cheap and good (and supposedly available in the OEM Forester/XV size in Malaysia and Singapore): https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3099156/+100 You can even try asking Motor Image. I sort of heard/read somewhere that they carry this brand for subsequent replacement tires (after the first factory set wears out). I came from Nissan car handled by Tan Chong which is Motor Image sister company. There, they also use alternative non-factory brand (one of them was Falken) as the replacement tires and interestingly, they charge quite cheap for those tires as compared to places like Autobacs. Perhaps, it is the same for Motor Image - I have not tried yet as still on my factory tires (but will definitely check with Motor Image and compare with others when it is time). If MI don't have, then can try other Goodyear outlets: https://www.goodyear.com.sg/store?tyre_id=1261 (there are over 180 stores listed - can just give a telephone call before you go down). Cosmicclaw 6th Gear December 23, 2015 Share December 23, 2015 For those who may have questions/concerns about the realibility of Subaru Foresters ...... I just came back from a 3 day drive to KL in my 9 years 3 months old Forester. Drove around the city with its notorious traffic, averaged 130 kmh along North South Highway and everything went well. Admitedly, it is not as "smooth or powerful" as when it was new but nonetheless, for a 9 year old car, it was a very smooth and more importantly, realiable drive. I did have some concerns before starting the trip but after some checks at mechanic and changing a leaking brake cylinder, everything went well and waiting eagerly for the new Forester model expected next year !
