Neutral Newbie

I am driving a 2016 FXT with mileage about 190k.

Previously I am cruising in Sg highway the lub oil temp normally hoover around 90 to 91 degree celsius. Recently i found that the temp can go up to 95 degree celsius and reached 104 degree celsius when going up Genting Highland.

Can fellow friends advise what is your FXT running temp and what should I do to rectify it. Ps: already changed to new radiator but no improvement.

This should be normal as I've asked this before. Cruising at around 150kmph at nshw resulted in 105 degree c for me. Need to back down to 120 to lower the temp to below 100. Most engine oil can take around 120 degree c no issue.

If u want can install the eo cooler.

@Shibadog Really appreciate your reply. Feeling worried as it is more than 10 degree celsius above normal cruising temperature.

Normal because you traveling at higher speed. Engine will be hotter.

Unless locally at the temperature then not ok.

@Stewart_ng Normal ... and mine even oreli with koyorad double walled full alu radiator, not a chiongster and stock tuned.

Eo temp raised marginally higher on both scangage and stock sensor than yours when "upgraded" to bigger cvt cooler from stock one cos blocking radiator while cvt oil temp lowered and more stable .. lol !

Cheers.

Hi guys,

Need to replace radiator. Any recommendations for workshops near Alexandra or Clementi/West Coast? Thanks.

@Tohto  Indeed .. but forester also aged like me 😞

At 90 to 100kmhr locally on hwy, virgin time was 92-93, "upgraded" 3 yrs ago with bigger cvt radiator becomes 94-95 and now at 160kmhr 96-97 and even 98 deg C when driven hard.

For reference if not having other hidden unknown issue while coolant basically not needing any topup.

No major concern except when stuck in custom for >1hr and it had risen to 100+ on a hot day and aircon not cold with still original compressor.

Cheers.

Hi, I need some advice regarding servicing my late 2019 Forester.

So far, we've been taking it to the MI service center on an ad-hoc basis. We're now considering either signing a service package with them or exploring alternative options. However, we're a bit concerned that if we go with an external workshop, they may not perform the same comprehensive check-up to ensure everything is in good shape.

Can BKS or BMS offer similar quality service at a better price? Any recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Quotation from MI for the Forester...

Routine: 60K service $506 + $191 for flushing transmission (incl. new fuel)
Full service + four wheel drive lubrication (Total: $700)

Package on offer (14 Oct 2024)
Normally: $1,615 - 2yrs, four services. Includes majority of lubricants (therefore $403 per service)

Special:  $1,615 - 2.5yrs, five services.  Includes majority of lubricants (therefore $323 per service)

@Dino17 after servicing 4yrs at MI and another 4yrs at outside Subaru specialist workshops, my own recommendation would be to continue servicing at MI if your mileage is 8k to 10k every 6mths or lesser.  For parts change, if MI does not offer discounts then you can get those done at outside workshops such as BMS amk.

I used to own a FXT also. I choose to go to BKS Admiralty for their professional service and service attitude. Prices are more reasonable than MI for sure.

MI servicing is slow and expensive.

I am sure BKS is more competent.

@Icecube187 thank you.

You can also consider Dynamic Mechanic at Woodlands.  Many Forester service there also.

Anyone has issue with connecting Bluetooth audio and calls from Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra?   Apparently it's a problem  discussed in reddit but no solution. I'm having the same issue.
